[Review] Klairs 2 in 1 Toner Mate Cotton Pad

Klairs 2 in 1 Toner Mate Cotton Pad Review:

Cotton pads are just cotton pads, right? Wrong! That was what I used to think until I went down the Asian Beauty rabbit hole and began paying more attention to the quality of different facial cotton pads. Some cotton pads soak too much product, some leave lints all over your face, some irritates your skin and some provides gentle exfoliation. Therefore it is important to use quality made cotton pad to help double the effects of your skincare regime.

When I came across this dear, Klairs 2 in 1 Toner Mate Cotton Pad, I was intrigued by its concept of having two different types of cotton pads in one box, which is the compressed cotton pad and the sponge cotton pad. These cotton pads are designed for the Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner, but there is no reason why you cannot use these with any other toners.

  • This product claims to be a one-step gentle exfoliation and cleansing solution.
  • Compressed cotton pad: A certified 100% pure cotton pad that helps to wipe away leftover impurities, gently exfoliates for smoother skin texture, and prepares skin to better absorb the following skincare products.
  • Sponge cotton pad: Airlaid pulp fabric designed to act like sponge where it decreases product waste by collecting the toner and spits it out back to the face, hence delivering full hydration to the skin.

Compressed cotton pad: 100% cotton

Sponge cotton pad: Pulp and rayon blend.

Compressed cotton pad: This one needs a lot of toner for it to be saturated, which I feel is causing a lot of product wastage. It is also quite stiff and rough, and makes my skin feel irritated no matter how saturated the cotton pad is and how gently I try to swipe across my face.

Sponge cotton pad: As for this one, it is soft, thin and does not need too much product for the pad to be soaked. I don’t only use this for my toner, I also sometimes use this for my essence as well and it works great. It collects the right amount of product and dispenses back into the skin. This cotton pad is also suitable to be used as a DIY mask.

These two cotton pads do not break apart when being used and it does not leave fibers all over my face. While the sponge pad is great to prevent product wastage, I do not enjoy the texture of the compressed pad at all. I’m not sure if I would bother trying to finish up the compressed ones, but I would use up the sponge pads and would not repurchase.
