[Review] New 2017 Laneige Fresh Calming Morning Mask

Laneige Fresh Calming Morning Mask Review:

I purchased this product as soon as it came out due to, first, being a morning mask! How unusual is that! And then also as important, it focuses on combination skin, even though all skin types can use it. And truth be told, I didn’t pay much attention to the pictures at the time and the mask type surprised me when I got it. I guess I was waiting for a pot with a cream, like the sleeping mask? After using it for over a month I think I can tell you everything I found out about this mask.

-Easy and quick leave on morning mask that hydrates sensitive skin, soothes skin and helps makeup get applied well. On top of the Laneige Skin Equalizing technology, panthenol, an excellently soothing compound, has been added to more powerfully provide special skin soothing care.

-As an innovative mask of an air mousse texture, its further-refined particles help skin absorb the effective compounds and enjoy an optimal state for makeup to get applied well during busy mornings.

-The reason your skin is disheveled is because your skin condition is unstable. This collection helps you recover a healthy balance. It hydrates and soothes the skin.

After evening out the skin texture with a toner, apply serum, pump a quarter-sized amount of product and apply onto the entire face. Then pat dry within a minute. (and then rest for 5 to 10 minutes, believe me)

I have to be perfectly honest and say I hate the packaging. I mean, individually they are great, but I think the pink bottle and the white and blue box match as well as chocolate cereals and omelette. Why didn’t they make a white and pink box to match this collection?

As I said in the intro, I’ve used this product several times during the course of over one month. As such I have an important piece of information to share before starting the mask review itself. The mask, being a mousse, tends to stay clogged in the corners of the pump head.

I tried to take the best photo I could. Anyway, the point is, you have to clean it whenever you see it because, well, you don’t want useless microbia all over your skin.

This is how much product was stuck inside the head! A whole lot. I removed it by tugging it out with a toothpick, I’m sure there’s also other stuff you can use, just keep it all clean.

As they said, and as I didn’t notice when I purchased this, the mask is in mousse form. But it’s not nice and fluffy, no matter how much you shake it before using, it’s almost like… whipping cream just before it gets to the point of being perfect!

When I apply the mask on my skin, it melts really really quickly. And even before it absorbs, my skin already looks healthier.

This is a before, during and after photo. You can see that my skin just became healthier looking and more lively as the mousse absorbed into my skin!

It replaces, to me, a morning sheet mask. No, correction, it replaces a good morning sheet mask. Those ones that match you perfectly. This mask matches my tastes perfectly.

I tried using it not in the morning (I tried  lunch and afternoon) and it doesn’t feel as magical for some reason. I also tried waiting for 5 to 10 minutes after applying the mask and just doing it for 1 minute as they said.

I feel healthier, more hydrated, more lively if I let it wait – I think it’s because I use a relatively rich essence before it. When I skipped the essence, just out of curiosity, it felt the same after waiting 1 minute or waiting 5. You know skin care, it’s always a little mix and match to your own tastes!

The scent of this mask is really pleasant although I can’t put my finger exactly on what it smells like. It’s definitely flowery! Maybe Jasmine or Narcissus. If you sniff it out of the bottle it’s very strong, but it’s a light mousse so when it’s on your face it becomes a very weak smell.

They say it works sort of like a makeup magnet, that the makeup sticks beautifully and evenly to your skin. I don’t think it does that directly. What I noticed is that it balances the skin by making your oily parts less oily and keeping your dry parts hydrated, which results in (as combination skin know) your makeup not peeling off on your oily parts, not as easily at least.

I am already planning on purchasing this again, that’s how much I like it!
