Laneige Fresh Calming Toner Review:
I received this Laneige Fresh Calming Toner along with the gel facial cleanser from a beauty store as I applied for the membership. The Fresh Calming line comes with four set of products including this toner and Fresh Calming Gel Cleanser as well as a Fresh Calming Morning Mask and serum. The whole line is actually dedicated for the oily/combination young skin of 20-25 age, that kind of skin that looks oily on surface but actually dehydrated beneath.
So, even though I’m not in the range of this age and my skin is not oily, I have heard a lot of praises directed to the Morning Mask from the Fresh Calming line. It made me quite curious, and Laneige has a very credible reputation as well. The toner supposed to balance the oil and water content of skin and makes it feel refreshed, hydrated, and soothed.
As taken from official Laneige website, the product claims are as below:
– Moisturizing healthy skincare
– Plant-derived rich extracts instantly soothe skin and keep skin moisturized and healthy by strengthening the moisture barrier with deep seawater
– Refreshing feel
– The oil-free texture provides a refreshing feel perfect for use as toner pack
– Low-irritant, gentle toner
– 4-free cleanser passed dermatological tests, hypo-allergy tests completed
(4 FREE: mineral oil/ animal-based ingredients / synthetic coloring/ triethanolamine)
Water, Propanediol, Sea Water, Litchi Chinensis Pericarp Extract, Butylene Glycol, Ppg-13-decyltetradeceth-24, Disodium Edta, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.
How to use:
As usually, Laneige provides the How-to-Use direction with figures like this.
I also sometimes use it as mask pack by soaking facial cotton with the toner and put it on the face. Very soothing and refreshing.
My Skin Type: normal, not oily but blemish-prone, rather large pores in T-zone including blackheads.
Laneige Fresh Calming Toner Review:
The packaging is very cute peachy pink color with ombre touch. It still translucent though, so I can see the remaining product in the bottle. The bottle as well as the twist-off lid are made of plastic, with a stopper. The first time I used it, I was worried that the content will flow directly when I shake the bottle but it’s actually not.
Few drops are enough to refresh the skin as the formula is not oily. You can apply the toner directly or use a cotton pad. For me, since toner is the first step of my skin care routine, I like to use a cotton pad since it feels cleaner, and the pad actually scrub the dead skin and remaining dirt.
By the way, I use special kind of cotton from Aritaum called 1/2 Slim Cotton Pads. Unlike the ordinary thick pads, this one is very slim but quite strong, not easily to tear. It’s called 1/2 because actually you can separate each pads to be two pieces as the picture. This type of cotton is very suitable for toner pack due to its thinness thus directly attached on the face. Also, I need to use less liquid to wet the pads. One box of 160 pads, which after you split becomes 320, for KRW 5,500.
Return back to the toner, the liquid is colorless with water consistency. With fresh fruity smell that aligned with the facial foam, it directly refreshes and soothes the skin. The smell perhaps meant to be related with the litchi fruit as the key ingredients for soothing effect. Absorption is also very fast and not sticky or slick.
I can notice the difference in my skin when I’m using this product comparing with the usual days. The skin indeed feels less oily but a little too dry to my liking. Not that kind of dryness that makes the skin flaky, I mean a feeling that makes me think I haven’t applied moisturizer.
Anyway, I think this line will make an excellent effect for the targeted combination skin. It does what it promised. I am using this toner together with the facial foam and they work together very well. Perhaps even better if you add up the serum and morning mask to the whole ritual.
I think I will not repurchase the product. Don’t get me wrong, the product is nice and everything but perhaps this line is not for my skin.
However, I would highly recommend this to those with oily skin but dehydrated beneath since I think it will do great to balance the moisture and natural oil of your skin.
