[REVIEW] Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream

Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream Review:

Okay, so this is not a new product. But it is a classic from the permanent and most famous collection of Laneige. And I can’t believe it took me 4 years to try this! I am disappointed in myself and so surprised with this cream, if you don’t have dry skin I would definitely suggest you at least pay attention to this cream if given a chance to try it.

Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream Review

As I said, I can’t believe it took me 4 years to try this cream.

I started using it on and off during the summer, and have been using it currently as my day cream (Autumn). I started by using it solo, and currently use it after a lotion as a day cream, since the weather gets colder.

The design is, for once, quite pleasant. I am not usually a fan of Laneige design, but this cream pot looks nice (the same can’t be said for the same collection lotion and toner, in my opinion).

The cream looks exactly like a gel cream. Like if you mix a gel with a moisturizer (seriously, thoroughly mix any face or body oil you have with any soothing gel you have and see how it looks like), and maybe had I known that I would have used this a while ago. It also reminds me slightly of the Goodal Green Tangerine cream, although this one is a little less moisturizing.

The scent is like the whole collection scent, so if you tried any product you know what it smells like. But this one is fresher in smell and nose-feel. It’s an artificial scent, but to me it is quite nice. If your skin is sensitive to fragrance definitely give this a pass.

Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream Review

As expected from a (good) gel cream, it spreads easily and you don’t need much to cover the whole face. That means you can also regulate the amount of moisture by layering it! It absorbs fast and very well, without leaving a trace of product or grease.

It also helps settle the previous products and it nullifies any residue they may leave on your skin – which means I have been using a more intense single essence and lotion, and my face feels as light as without them, yet with their full effects. The same effect as when you apply a gel after a cream. It also leaves a healthy shine on the skin!

But all this is only “a good” gel cream, right? Look what it does to actual facial skin then! My skin has bloated pores, is dehydrated, etc etc (read it up in the beginning if you must).

Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream Review

I know, my skin is horrible, the pollution here in Korea is disgusting and my skin gets like this (or worse) every other day.

I had applied my thick rich firming essence and lotion before. You can see after the cream settled and absorbed completely, my pores are tighter (thanks to the hydration provided) and less bloated (which is a small inflammation caused by the pollution) which means that it’s fitting for irritated skin.

Another point, for those who don’t care about hydration nor irritation, is that it moisturizes enough for the sticky season, and most importantly it helps reduce the shine of the previous products! If you read my Skinfood Apple cream review you know I complained that it did this but it also made my dehydrated nose peel – this does not happen here. Hydration, a small amount of moisture, slight sebum control, overall face comfort.

It also fares well after using facial oil instead of a lotion! Which makes me happy~

I can’t recommend this cream enough for those who don’t have particularly dry or sensitive skin, and if you do have either… if your skin flakes because of dehydration then consider this, and if it is sensitive because of irritation consider this too, just make sure to check the ingredients first.
