[Review] Leaders Insolution Snail Therapy Skin Clinic Mask Sheet

Leaders Insolution Snail Therapy Skin Clinic Mask Sheet Review:

Ah, the snail… While skincare ingredient fads come and go, snail mucin definitely made me take a double take at first and question how far people would go to achieve smooth, flawless skin. And of course… I got pulled into the weird and wondrous fascination without much hesitation because obviously, I’m a curious cat. Coupled with the product in question being a Leaders mask – a brand highly raved by beauty bloggers – who was I to turn away from possible soothing greatness?

Star Ingredients:

  • Snail Secretion Filtrate: Anti-aging as it stimulates the formation of collagen and elastin. Also helps to soothe/repair damaged skin and restore hydration in the skin.
  • Portulaca Oleracea Extract: Strong anti-irritant properties and helps to soothe sensitive, itchy skin. May also help to eliminate the aging effects of wrinkles.
  • Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract: Works as a natural alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) which minimises and repairs cell damage caused by free radicals.
  • Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract: Used to soothe/relieve inflammation and provides some antioxidant protection.
  • Artemisia Absinthium Extract: Contains natural anti-bacterial properties.
  • Ledum Palustre Extract: Anti-inflammatory and helps to diminish bruising, skin discolouration and swelling.
  • Saururus Chinensis Extract: Skin brightening.
  • Betaine: An amino acid which primarily functions as a humectant and anti-irritant. May help to give the face a much smoother appearance as it temporarily decreases the depth of wrinkles.
  • Sodium Hyaluronate: A humectant which (ideally) draws H2O from the surroundings into the skin. Absorbs moisture 1000 times its weight. Plays an important role of providing sufficient moisture to the skin, and helps bring back elasticity and luster back to the tired and sensitive skin.

Packaging-wise, I actually quite like the design as it definitely sets it apart from other sheet masks immediately. With a syringe caricature citing “wrinkle improvement” certification from MFDS and noting what the mask targets on the front, it definitely piqued my interest – both as an arts enthusiast and a skincare nerd. The mask itself, however, leaves me with mixed thoughts/feelings.

Looking at the ingredients list, the product seems to be chock full of natural herbal goodness. In fact, majority of the ingredients seem to possess superb skin benefits, which made me even more enthusiastic.

However, the scent that greeted me as I opened the packet left me feeling perplexed. In hindsight, it’s not horrible as the scent does fade away while masking, but the detergent/floor cleaner scent admittedly surprised me.

The essence itself is relatively slimy with a temporary sticky texture before it fully sinks into the skin well, as expected of a snail product. It is colourless and quite viscous, which means that while masking, I did find a certain heavy-feeling due to the essence.

Despite this, the cotton material of the mask was neither too thin nor too thick which means that it sat nicely on my skin throughout the 30 minute wear time.

Taking off the mask, I noticed that the slight redness I had pre-masking soothed and that my skin was more even-toned. However, I did find that it dulled my skin – probably due to the essence not having sunk in completely at the time.

After a few minutes of patting, though, everything absorbed well and there was no irritation or itchiness. It also layered well under the rest of my skincare routine.

Overall, I’d probably rate this a 3.5/5 or even a 4/5. It’s a good, non-irritating mask which is ideal for dry or dehydrated skin looking for extra soothing properties. While I did find it good for soothing, I think it might have been a tinge too heavy for my skin – especially as I live in a humid country.

The floor cleaner scent also turned me off, so those sensitive to scents may not like it much. It’s not terribly strong, though. All in all, it’s a mask worth trying.
