[REVIEW] Leejiham LJH Vita Propolis Ampoule

Leejiham LJH Vita Propolis Ampoule Review:

This teeny bottle of golden nectar has fast become a must-have in my daily routine. It contains 50% propolis extract to help achieve the “dewy glow”. If you watch as many K-dramas as I do, you will know the look I am referring to *cough* Jun Ji Hyun. It also contains multi vitamins (B3, B5, C), Centella Asiatica, Sea Buckthorn and Witch Hazel extract to help calm irritation / redness, minimise the appearance of pores and delay anti-aging. This little bottle just keeps on giving!

I was surprised to discover that LJH actually operates a chain of professional dermatology clinics in Korea (suddenly their “Beauty is Clever” tagline makes more sense) and the Vita Propolis range is one of the 6 product ranges of cosmeceuticals on their website.

♥ Brightens the skin to make it more radiant.

♥ Anti-oxidation and anti-bacterial effects for troubled skin.

♥ Moisturizing and firming effect.

♥ Anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties.

Propolis extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract, Panthenol, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water, Niacinamide, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Ethyl Ascorbyl Ether, Hamamelis Virginiana Bark/ Twig Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Carbomer, Arginine, Spirodela Polyrrhiza Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Adenosine.

In laymen’s terms, the first 5 ingredients in this ampoule are: Propolis, Purslane, Sea Buckthorne, Vitamin B5 derivative and Rose – a true cocktail of natural ingredients.

How to Use:

Although this ampoule has a lot of slip and is easy to apply, I find that this works best when mixed with a carrier i.e. essence, moisturiser or even your BB cream. In fact, based on a translation of the “How to Use” instructions on the LJH Korean website, it suggests that you mix 2-3 drops with a face cream and spread lightly over your entire face.

I personally mix it with my Innisfree Soybean Energy Essence and then lightly pat it all over my face for better absorption.

The packaging is minimalistic with the gold coloured liquid housed in a stout little glass bottle with the name in clear white fonts. You can clearly see the level of ampoule remaining so you know when it is time to do some stocking-up!

The dropper works great as it picks up an entire dropper full of liquid with one squeeze of the rubbery tip. Also, extra brownie points for the triangular shaped box that the ampoule comes in. I love how it unfolds like origami – so unique!

Every morning and evening, I mix 2 drops of this ampoule with my essence and pat it on my face. I love the faint honey smell in the ampoule (in fact I did a blind smell test on my boyfriend and made him sniff the contents and guess the smell to which his response was “mild honey”).

I have used a few products in the past where the honey smell was so strong I was afraid I would be mistaken for a walking beehive.

The liquid itself is runny and goes on smoothly when applied on its own. However, as mentioned, for best results, mix this with a cream or essence as suggested by the LJH dermatologists. So, that is what I do…who am I to argue with the dermatologist?

Results wise, I have definitely noticed a subtle improvement in the clarity of my complexion. It is not an astounding difference and claiming that I now have a “dewy glow” would be stretching the truth a little. However, after washing my face in the morning and scrutinising my complexion prior to applying any products, I noticed that my skintone is more even.

As for its anti-aging properties, I cannot really say whether this has made much of a difference as I do not have many wrinkles or age spots at the moment but propolis is meant to slow down the aging process so fingers crossed it is working!

In terms of price, it is quite pricey for such a tiny amount of product. I bought mine off eBay for approximately £12. One bottle will last you about a month with 2-3 drops per usage. However if it helps even out the complexion while at the same time delays the aging process a little, that price suddenly seems very reasonable.

Will I repurchase? Definitely (actually, already did)! It is rare to find something that actually works for my skin, no matter how subtly. So if you have sensitive / oily skin, this product works a treat.
