[REVIEW+SWATCHES] Lilybyred Mood Liar Velvet Tint 03 Apricot & 05 Plum

Lilybyred Mood Liar Velvet Tint 03 Apricot & 05 Plum Review:

I only tried lip tints once and that was a while ago when the original formula was so drying that it left me such a bad impression on lip tints of all kinds. However, given that brands have been working to improve formula, I am actually glad that I decided to give it another try and finally discovered these little gems. Yes, my ridiculously dry lips love these Lilybyred Mood Liar Velvet Tints.

Lilybyred Mood Liar Velvet Tint 03 Apricot & 05 Plum Review:

I got 2 shades from the line. They are 03 Elegant Apricot and 05 Plum. Elegant Apricot is a soft coral with a hint of pink undertone in the tube but somehow the pink never shows up on my lips. Plum is described as a wine red which is just perfect for autumn/winter but it turns out more of an orangey red on me. They are all scented accordingly to their names (and they smell super delicious).

Packaging:

The product comes in a chubby plastic square tube component with a velvety touch to it. The color of the component actually matches the lip color inside. I personally love this minimal yet stylish packaging. It feels like “cool chic” makeup to me and I really enjoy showing it off in public whenever I retouch my lips.

The applicator is pretty standard for lip products of its kinds. However, for this type of texture, I find that the doe foot tends to pick up quite a lot of product.

Texture and finish:

The texture is thick and moussey which glides on effortlessly without settling in my lines (given that my lips are well-exfoliated beforehand). It may look a bit shiny upon application but when it dries down, the shine fades away quickly to leave a lightweight velvety matte finish which is not 100% transfer-proof though.

Pigmentation and longevity:

It has very decent pigmentation and opaque coverage. You will get the color payoff in just one swipe with very minimal amount of product. And it also lasts very well. In fact, I find that the longer I have it on, the more beautiful it looks on my lips. It gives a natural diffused, blurring look to my lips without bleeding, flaking or picking on fine lines.

Even after a meal, though it does go off, it goes off in a graceful manner and leaves a pretty stain behind. The stain tends to be more visible with darker shades.

Application:

I recommend exfoliating and priming your lips with lip balm before application to avoid patchiness and dryness. Also, you should be light-handed with application at first, putting too much product may make the application patchy and flaky.

Even for my super dry lips, with a coat of lip balm underneath, it wears comfortable on me for 3-4 hours. In addition, as I have mentioned earlier, they are all fruit-scented. The scent is quite strong straight from the component, but it does not linger on your lips.

In general, I absolutely love this line from Lilybyred. Everything from packaging to formula is on point. The color selection is very vibrant but I do find them universally flattering. I would love to see more muted tones if they decide to expand the color chart.
