At first I wasn’t going to try this mask. Because, honestly, “half face masks” are silly to me, since my whole face needs attention. Still, the fact that I often mask in the shower made it very appealing for me to use a sheet mask in the shower! Hard to resist.
I tried but in the end decided not to resist anymore. This mask comes in Moisturizing and Exfoliating variants, I chose the Moisturizing one because the other one needs to be washed off in the end (it is exfoliating supposedly) so I chose the one that is closer to the traditional mask sheet.
+ Body & Face Care at the same time. Eliminate time burden of skin care & efficient time management.
+ Patented sheet maximizes skin absorption, sheet adhesion & shielding effect while having an effective ingredient transfer.
+ Helps absorption by natural steam and warmth during shower.
+ Moisture shine (leave-on type): The shower steam is used to open the pores and to absorb moisture with a dual sheet to create a moist skin.
+ High moisturizing / high nutrition & steam towel effect.
+ Strengthens skin barrier with ceramide.
+ Deep double moisturizing film makes lasting moisture.
Hibiscus Extract – It has a rich moisturizing effect and skin barrier. Efficacy & protection against harmful environment.
Ceramide pc-104 – It has been developed through its 20 years of research and uses high content of ceramide and gives a high degree of moisturizing effect.
Amino Acid Complex – It is similar to the ratio of amino acids in the dead skin layer of the skin to maintain nutrition and moisturization.
Purified Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Ethylhexyl Isononanoate, 1, 2-hexanediol, Hydroxypropyl Bispalmitamide Mea, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Palmitic Acid, Tromethamine, Carbomer, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate / Vpicopolymer, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cyclohexasiloxane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Disodium Edta, Glyceryl Glucoside, Glucose, C12-16 Alcohol, Chestnut Bark Extract, Lysine, Histidine, Arginine, Aspartic Acid, Threonine, Serine, Glutamic Acid, Proline, Glycine, Alanine, Valine, Methionine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Tyrosine, Phenylalanine, Cysteine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance
How to use:
1. Apply the mask in a completely dry face, by removing the transparent film and making sure the mask adheres properly.
2. With the mask on, shower in warm water.
3. Once you finish showering, dry the water gently (for example, pat the towel gently on your face), remove the mask and promote the absorption of the remaining essence by massaging it gently.
**The mask may fall while washing hair or if the shower head points directly at the face.
(however I washed my hair, I just made sure to wash it towards the back and not towards the face)
My Skin Type: Combination (dry U oily T), sensitive, needs elasticity, hydration and moisture.
Mamonde In Shower Mask Moisturising Review:
I hate to be the one to say this (no I don’t) but when Mamonde stopped having those boring designs and got the new “ampoule” mask designs from the flower lab masks I had hopes they would stop having boring designs. I mean, their brand is focused on flowers, so imagine all the possibilities!
But no, this time we have a design that’s bubbly and looks more like hyaluronic acid than shower. It’s not that it’s an ugly design, it’s just that it’s nothing special! I do like the blue shiny letters and the font they chose though, they are very cute.
Anyway, they don’t say it specifically, but since they say to adhere the mask to a face without water then I assumed I had to wash my face, and so I did wash my face.
Shower masking isn’t a new thing to me, often I apply a mask in the shower to protect my skin from losing moisture. Since this mask sheet is meant to be used in the shower I thought it better to use the gentlest cleanser I have, so prevent losing moisture, so I used the Krave Beauty Macha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser.
The package is sturdy and opens easily, though somewhat slowly since it’s dense. It’s a big package (unnecessarily big) but it does separate easily so we can remove the mask from the pouch without much of a struggle.
The mask comes with a vinyl protection, I guess this is what they mean by double mask, and it doesn’t feel soaked in essence.
The mask has amazing adherence. It is stickier on the side that was touching the vinyl, so that’s the side I’m putting on my face, since they left no instructions on that matter.
The mask shape is something I keep wishing all masks had! That small fold on the cheeks here is a cut so that you can actually glue it all without a bothersome air pouch.
It’s also the stickiest mask ever, in the sense that it really sticks to the skin. This is why you can’t have water on your skin before application. Otherwise I’m guessing it’ll just be adhering-ish like a normal mask.
I wish it covered more of the nose, but it is a Korean brand and it does cover most Korean noses pretty well since most people here don’t have the Eiffel Tower for a nose.
The scent is dense (as opposite to fresh) and is a sweet version of the Aritaum Hyaluronic Acid mask’s scent. It is not intense in any way, and in the shower it gets drowned by all the other scents, however you can notice it when you apply the mask, before showering.
As you can see there is more than one peculiarity to this mask.
There is no essence at all in the pouch, for example.
Also the masking time isn’t counted by minutes, but for the duration of your shower. This mask is supposed to hold on quite well in the shower, even with water splatters and hair washing. For a bath you can usually use a normal mask, right? What about us showerers?? Mamonde thought of us.
Swatching the mask’s essence is difficult, but if you want to patch test the mask you can use the very small leftovers from the vinyl cover, that’s what I did.
This is the greasiest mask to ever touch my skin, but I am not reticent to use it. Because when I mask in the shower I use creams that are as greasy as this. The humidity and water splatters prevent it from sticking all to your skin – in fact I tried masking with “creams of my skin level” when it comes to grease and it truly doesn’t work because of the water. Shower masking also implies very dense creams and essences, so that it won’t be gone within 3 minutes. Just like this one!
This essence doesn’t absorb as it is, it probably needs the help of water. Which would mean that it really is only a shower mask.
It held on amazing during the shower. Since my showers are short (around 10 minutes with hair washing) because my skin is sensitive, in the end I literally splashed water against the mask, and it didn’t slide down or anything. However, the mask sheet itself becomes a little softer the more water it gets. But whereas this is fine for splashing water they say if the shower head waters it directly then the mask may fall.
In the end my skin is completely unharmed by the shower and it is completely moisturized. Just a shame that my forehead wasn’t protected from the shower. I mean, my face doesn’t start under my eyes right? The skin is moist and I don’t have to rush to do my skincare. Thanks to the water, all the excess moisture from the mask is gone.
When I don’t mask in the shower my skin gets irritated red patches, and this time it is not only moist but almost no water damage.
In the end I must say I truly recommend this mask to those whose skin suffers in the shower. Everyone always mocks me or makes remarks at some point that it’s impossible for water to hurt, but it does and this mask definitely takes some of the pressure off my body.
The only minus points are that the forehead is unprotected and (this is only for my skin specifically) since the moisture is coming in without the hydration coming first, my pores don’t look as beautiful as they could. But still, the relief of a painless shower makes it so worth it!
As a small, almost unimportant, note though I have to say it does not feel like a steam mask in any way.
