[REVIEW] Maybelline Facestudio Master Strobing Cream Highlighter Pink

Maybelline Facestudio Master Strobing Cream Highlighter Pink Review:

As a girl with a very oily and textured skin, I’m not a biggest fan of liquid highlighter. I found them too slippery for my liking and they are not as shiny as the powder highlighter. That’s why I’m not that excited when I saw the advertisement for Maybelline’s newest liquid highlighter. I remember they released this highlighter in a stick formula and I think it’s the first time they made a liquid highlighter since I never saw something like this from their collection before.

Since Maybelline sell their products all around the world, it’s not weird to see they have different packaging for each region. I believe the one I got is exclusively for sale in Asia region. The packaging is shorter and a little bit chubbier. The one they sell in the United States is more flat and thin. They have more volume (20 ml) compared to the Asian’s version which only have 18 ml and they are 3 shades available to choose from while the one I have is available in 2 shades only.

Maybelline Facestudio Master Strobing Cream Highlighter Pink Review:

I am a highlighter enthusiast and I really love intense highlighter. I prefer the high shine one instead of the natural, ‘glow from the within’ type of highlighter because it makes my face looks more dimensional.

The reason why I decided to get this highlighter even though I’m not a biggest fan of liquid highlighter is because the swatch shows how insane the pigmentation is! The finish is pretty metallic and I think I haven’t seen any drugstore liquid highlighter with pigmentation as intense as this one here.

They make this highlighter in a stick formula as well but in my opinion the finish is not as pretty as the liquid one and it’s a little bit hard to use because you have to swipe it on your cheekbones and it can remove your foundation underneath.

The liquid one is easier to use and easier to blend too because the texture is more forgiving. It is thick so just a little amount is enough or it will be too much and hard to blend.

My favorite way in applying this highlighter is by using a damp beauty sponge. I’d suggest you not to use a brush because it can make the highlighter looks cakey and it won’t blend properly. Usually I squeeze out the product on the back of my hand and dip my beauty sponge into it then tap the highlighter on my cheekbones. This way the highlighter will blend into the skin nicely and it makes my textured skin looks more smooth.

I picked up the shade Pink. It’s the lightest shade out of 2 available shades and it matches my fair skin tone pretty well. It’s an iridescent, cool tone pink and I think it’s really pretty! Under the lights I can still see how metallic the shade is but when I captured it with a flash, the shine is really pretty you can see it shines even from far away.

I love this kind of shade and if I’m not mistaken, the other shade is more bronze which is perfect for people with medium skin tone. If you get this product in the US, there’s another shade called gold and the shade is suitable for deep skin tone.

Even though I have oily skin, this highlighter doesn’t budge at all! Usually liquid highlighter fade away so quickly on my face but not with this one. Once it’s there, it will stay there for all day. I’m so surprised it’s so long lasting and the thing I love the most from this highlighter is it doesn’t have a glitter chunk so there’s no any fallout at all.

I can use it as a base for my powder highlighter (that’s what I usually did with my liquid highlighter) but because of the intensity, I don’t think I need a powder highlighter at all.

Overall, I love this product so much! It’s a small tube but it can last me forever. I will recommend it for people who love intense highlighter. It’s also affordable so it won’t break the bank if there’s chance you don’t like it but I’m pretty sure you’ll like it because so far I see no negative thing from this product.
