[REVIEW] Missha Oil Soak Moisturizing Mask Sheet

Missha Oil Soak Moisturizing Mask Sheet Review:

I will start by saying that I purchased this mask blindly, without checking what it was or without even reading the package. So, I believe that I shouldn’t say much on this section, so that you will feel all that I felt.

All I (and thus you) knew right off the bat was that it’s an oil mask, which honestly made me a little scared. And that it’s a mask focused on moisture. I had no idea what they meant by “soak mask”, and I had never used a facial oil product until I tried this!

As excited, and reticent, as I was to try this mask at this point I was also mad at it. I tried to open it on one side, it didn’t work (obviously), and then I tried it on the other side… and it only opened halfway! I know I am clumsy but I rarely have this much trouble opening something.

I ended up having to cut it open. Perfectly fine since the mask was down in the pouch and wouldn’t get cut by it, but come on… had I been on vacation it would have been a wasted mask because I don’t carry scissors or knives with me on vacation.

The mask is there, relatively yellow in color – as the outside image suggests, but other than that it’s nothing more than a regular sheet mask. The liquid I can already see that even though it is a an essence it does look like facial oil in a certain way.

Opening the mask, it’s very thin, and textured (which I guess is to help the essence retain there). it is still slightly yellow. Usually when I prepare these photos I struggle because I always take them in a white background and the mask is white, but this one facilitated quite a bit.

After investigating a little, I found that all the chemical free papers made out of sarcandra are yellow in tone, or sepia, so I do rest a little more assured that this sheet has little whitening chemicals in it. Yay!

So, the fit. I know when I say something has a good fit it doesn’t usually look like a good fit. That’s because my face is not the ideal format for a mask sheet – but I have learned to asses what is a good fit and what is not.

A good fit will stick to most of my face without me having to cut the mask (separate it more like it) to get it to stick. Ideally it would also cling on my nose area.

As you can see, this one is quite good. Since the mask sheet is really soft it sticks and stretches, and fits generally well on my face. The best part is that it also stuck to my nose area quite well.

Now, if I must say a very small downside is that even though it covered my eyes until under the eyebrows, the nose flapper still left a lot of nose uncovered. I know I have a tall nose, but it is not long so this shouldn’t happen. But it really is a very  minor issue, since the rest of the fit is so good.

At this time I felt the oil touch my skin, and I freaked out a little. I know facial oils are ideal for any skin type, but I also know most oily skin people are afraid of using oils. And I was one of those.

I was scared, but only until I did the arm test (which usually I do before applying the mask). The oily essence spread like oil indeed but it absorbed beautifully into the skin! My skin was instantly soft and moist, and I could just hope the result would be this good on my face.

Now, before I tell you my final verdict, I want to talk about the scent. It is very noticeable but not intense at all. I felt right away that it was the same scent of a sun cream I have scented like rose. So, of course when I noticed the scent all around me while wearing the mask I fell in love with it! Not to mention that flower scents have a very calming effect on me.

So what happened in the end?

Well, my skin was soft. And glowing. Not oily at all, if anything it was very balanced! It was moist and I think I fell in love with this mask. It didn’t harm my blemishes nor my sensitive spots.

I proceeded with my skin care normally and applied a lighter moisturizer, I had no particular sebum production and no need for any extra moisture at all. I already miss this mask, to be honest, but I took a photo of it with my routine to remember it. And now I am wishing for most of my masks to be done with so I have a reason to purchase this one again.

Now, I wouldn’t be afraid to use this regardless of skin type, but I would be careful with the moisturizers if you have oily skin. On this day I applied lotion on my T zone (oily) and a normal cream on my U zone. Other than that, no remarks regarding skin type!
