Moonshot Multi Protection UV FIXER SPF50+ PA+++ Review:
The summer season in Hong Kong means extreme heat and humidity — not the best conditions for my oily and acne-prone skin. It also makes skincare and makeup application a bit of a challenge — it’s always a race to put my “face” on before I start sweating it off. When I found out that Moonshot was coming out with a primer that claimed to not only make makeup last longer but also provide strong UV protection, I knew I had to give it a go.
I have tried a few Moonshot makeup products in the past and haven’t been disappointed, so I had high hopes for their newly-released Multi Protection UV FIXER SPF 50+ PA+++.

Moonshot Multi Protection UV FIXER SPF50+ PA+++ Review:
Moonshot recently came out with their summer releases, which includes the Micro Setting Fit Cushion, the Multi Protection UV Bouncer SPF50+ PA+++, and the Multi Protection UV Fixer SPF50+ PA+++. Although their names are similar, the bouncer and fixer are two entirely different things — the former is colorless with a gel-type texture for a cooling effect whereas the latter is slightly peach-colored with a creamy texture primarily to prolong makeup wear. Both claim to offer strong UV protection and can be used as primers.
The black packaging is sleek, standard for the brand. I like how it comes in a tube but also has a pump, to make application more convenient and hygienic.
Upon applying it, the first thing I noticed was the fragrance. It has a very floral, almost jasmine-like smell, and unfortunately, it lingers for pretty much the entire day, until you take it off. It is a bit of a turn-off, and I would be tempted to stop using it if it didn’t work so well.
I am not out in the sun a lot — I try to avoid it as much as possible, so I am not the best person to ask when it comes to the effectiveness of UV protection for this product. Personally, I don’t believe that any sort of makeup product — even primer — can replace sunscreen, so I did and still do put on sunscreen under any sort of primer; fortunately, this product plays well with my Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence sunscreen.
The peach color of the product is supposed to give slight color-correcting and tone-up effects, but in reality, the effects are very subtle — on my skin, it’s not noticeable. This fixer has a creamy texture that blends very well into thin layers, making it extremely easy to work with. Once applied, it dries down quickly to a natural matte finish, allowing for smooth makeup application.
Prolonging makeup wear is where the money’s at, with this product. I noticed that my complexion makeup — light foundation, concealer, powder blush, and cream highlighter — lasted significantly longer. My skin type is extremely oily, but it staved off the shine until six to seven hours into the day, which is at least four hours more than what usually what happens.
I used this both with and without setting power and spray; even without any of my usual setting products, I found that I didn’t get as oily as I normally would with my full makeup routine. Since it kept my oils at bay, it also made my makeup last longer — even at the end of the day, my foundation and concealer had not cracked or settled into my fine lines, and my blush and highlighter looked the same as it did in the morning.
This is not one of those products where a little goes a long way, especially if you’re using this as your only form of UV protection, and considering that it goes for USD 29.16, it’s not your usual affordable drugstore product.
For a 50mL bottle, I think it’ll last me around four months with daily usage, so it’s worth it considering I’ve never actually had a product that has substantially made my makeup wear so well throughout the day.
If you’re looking for a primer that will make makeup last longer — especially in the sweltering summer season — this product is for you. It also has some added benefits, but for me, these are just bonuses since I do use sunscreen separately and do not normally need color correctors.
If you’re in Seoul, I would recommend that you definitely check this product out at the Moonshot store; I believe that they’re doing a discount on this new line of products until the end of July!
