[Review] Naruko All-in-One High Potency Brightening Complex

Naruko All-in-One High Potency Brightening Complex was purchased by Cosmeperks.

Naruko, with its ever performing sheet mask squad, has gained my respect in a very short span of time. Most of their products are well performing at a decent price range, at least their sheet mask does. Which made me consider getting some real skin care product from them honestly, especially their brightening line so imagine my excitement to try Naruko All-in-One High Potency Brightening Complex!

To be perfectly honest though, I thought it was very brave of Naruko to have produced something that claims to be all-in-one. And frankly, I am a little skeptic about this product, after all, Jack of all trades master of none right? But then again, it’s Naruko we’re talking about so my expectations are quite high!

Naruko All-in-One High Potency Brightening Complex Review:

First off, I would like to talk about how disappointed I am with its packaging. Oh, don’t even get me started about the bottle’s design☺  You see, Naruko All-in-One High Potency Brightening Complex is packed traditionally. All this time I thought every toner/essences comes with a pump or nozzle, I was wrong.

This product comes with a screw cap and you can find a little whole where you dispense the product. It may seem alright for most of you but for someone who just drags herself in doing her night time routine, this kind of packaging deserves a bash. I have to press the bottle and do a little shake before I could get the essence to come out! It wasn’t the most efficient, packaging wise.

Anyway, Naruko All-in-One High Potency Brightening Complex has a thicker consistency compared to water. I’ve first tested it on the back of my hand and it felt smooth on my skin. It was easily absorbed by my skin too and didn’t leave the slightest tackiness which I appreciate, a lot.

Considering its consistency, it should be used on the essence part of your skincare if you are doing multi-step skincare routine. It has a pH range between 5 and 6 which makes it an ideal product for it shares the pH range of our skin.

Naruko All-in-One High Potency Brightening Complex Review

For starters, my skin is perfectly fine before I incorporated this product in my night time routine. Well, my skin is far from perfect but it was fine, if you know what I mean. Basically, I replaced my Benton essence to give way to this product; the rest of my skincare remains the same.

I started using it on the night of June 16, it seemed like a standard essence, it has no discernible scent too just like my Benton essences! My first impression on this product remains the same: it is a non-sticky and fast absorbing essence.

I checked my face when I woke up and my face looked normal, it doesn’t appear bright at all. I know I should not be looking for brightening right away but hey a girl can dream. Besides, some product does instant brightening!

My face is soft but I don’t like my skin’s texture at all. It looked alright but if I start feeling it with my hands it felt a little rough. I continued using it for a few days but it seemed like my skin is getting in a bad shape. I knew somethings off because I get a few pimples on my forehead and cheeks and it is very seldom of me to grow pimples on those parts. It would appear normal to me if it’s just my jaw although I must say that my jaw is breaking out so bad too!

The last time it was in this condition was like 5 years ago when I was so hooked in playing MMORPG that I don’t really get decent sleep, just bunch of power naps.

Summer has officially ended for me so I really can’t blame the heat this time. I can only consider Naruko All-in-One High Potency Brightening Complex as the culprit. I’ve only used this product for four nights and my skin condition has gone bad, seriously.

Instinctively, I stopped using this product and stick with basic cleansing and moisturizing. I also have used The Ordinary AHA 30% BHA 2% peeling solution in between and it has helped a lot with drying/flattening bumps.

I’ve observed that my face stopped growing new bumps and it was somehow getting better.  So after taking a break from Naruko All-in-One High Potency Brightening Complex from June 20 to 28, I gave it another go, second chances you know?

While my skin is not in its greatest condition, I have no pimples when I started using this product again, just few pimple marks that I’ve yet to fade. I used it again, from June 29 to July 1 and I am just amazed how bad my skin reacts with this essence! I’ve checked it’s ingredients on cosdna and honestly, the ingredients list seemed okay.

Sure, two of the ingredients are flagged as acne-trigger Butylene Glycol and Triethanol Amine but their score is pretty low, which is 1 and 2 respectively. It is also worth mentioning that most ingredients scored high in terms of safety, Triethanol Amine being the highest with a score of 5.

Just three days and my left and right temples got pimples which is VERY UNSUAL for me. In fact, I can’t recall the last time I had a zit on my temples so it was very easy for me to assume that something must be causing the breakout. This time, it was a lot easier for me to point, with much regret, that Naruko All-in-One High Potency Brightening Complex is indeed the culprit.

To be fair, this product does a good job in terms of hydration and moisture. I can’t say much about the brightening effect with longer usage for I haven’t really had the chance to use it steadily. Considering how much it broke me out, I won’t be buying this product again nor am I getting anywhere near this product again.

Needless to say, I won’t be recommending this product to anyone but that’s just me. At the end of the day it boils down to YMMV, always does.
