Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Essence and Watery Cream Review:
Nature Republic is one of the first Korean Brands that I’ve delved into so I’ve always have a soft spot for it. Nature Republic to me, however, has been a hit-and-miss and sadly, I haven’t found something from them that has been exemplary to my skin. Don’t get me wrong, most of their products deliver, I just feel that they lack in the oomph department. Nevertheless, I am open (will always be) to try Nature Republic products whenever I can so when I was gifted few products from the Ginseng Royal Silk line, I got really excited. I mean why not? You can consider this as luxury line given its price tag!
- The Ginseng Royal Silk line promises to deliver complete moisturizing, whitening, and total wrinkle care.

Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Essence and Watery Cream Review:
Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Essence and Watery Cream comes in a neat green box which I find attractive! The essence comes in a green sturdy pump type bottle which is easy to grip because it’s quite thin. The Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream on the other hand is housed in a very pretty jar (you could really feel that it is indeed expensive) but very impractical in a sense that it is too heavy and eats quite a bit of a space in my table.
The essence is yellow to goldish and you can see specks of gold in it, the color is so vibrant it looks beautiful in person! Texture-wise, it is creamy and feels a bit thick but can be spread quite easily. This product is heavily scented, I can’t identify the notes but it appeals fresh to me; doesn’t smell artificial in anyway so I’m okay with it.
This essence is far from your usual essence that is more on the runny side; it can quite pass as a cream for my standards because it felt thick on my face. Ginseng Royal Silk Essence feels luxurious on my face and I meant it in bad way. The essence is just too rich for my skin I could already tell that it won’t work well with me. The finish of this essence is oily and it felt really tacky! It even took really long before my skin absorbed the essence.
Due to this fact, I had longer waiting time than usual before I proceed with my next skincare procedure. I continuously massaged the essence on my face and waited 20 minutes or so before I felt that it has been absorbed by skin.
Then I followed the essence with Nature Rwpublic Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream –the cream is colorless with specks of gold. It has the same scent of the essence and surprisingly, it felt more lightweight than the essence. Surprisingly, NR Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream is nowhere near watery –to me, it is more of jelly than watery. As I blend the cream, my skin felt really nice and smooth just like what I got upon applying the essence counterpart. It felt a bit slimy but in a really good way.
I actually love how the cream made my skin silky smooth! But just like the essence, it took me longer time massaging this on my face before it got fully absorbed.
The next day, I woke up to a really greasy face considering I sleep in a room where the air-condition unit is on full blast. I honestly got turned off on how it made my skin so oily –it appears that most products just sat atop my face instead of being absorbed.
I am quite disappointed because my skin didn’t look nice or healthy (if you know what I mean) even if I layered them! One of the claims is that it help revitalize tired skin, unfortunately, I didn’t notice any of that when I used this. I didn’t observe any whitening or brightening too. On the Brightside, this combo made my skin really soft and hydrated. I also feel that it is effective when it comes to firming but nothing too dramatic. I am also happy to report that it didn’t break me out.
Overall, this product is just so-so. Truth be told, I would be mad if I bought this with my own money☺ This product may have received a lot of praises from many and known people but to my skin, it did not do anything out of the ordinary. It is nice to have own something that feels luxurious but in all honesty, I won’t be repurchasing both the essence and cream for I don’t like how my skin looked and felt greasy on the days that I’ve used them.
While I love how it soft and smooth it made my skin, I feel that it doesn’t justify the cost. Frankly, I have seen better results from different skincare products that costs only fraction of this line. I wouldn’t recommend it to my friends but if you’re interested in this product you might want to hear my piece: if you want something lightweight, this product is not for you. If you’re looking for brightening and whitening look somewhere else too! However, if you like skin firming and worries about wrinkles, this product may work for you after all, this line is made to cater to aging and mature skin.
