[REVIEW] New 2017 Laneige Two Tone Sheet Mask | Moisturizing and Lifting

Laneige Two Tone Sheet Mask Moisturizing and Lifting was purchased by Cosmeperks

Laneige masks are considered to be “affordable high end” masks here in Korea, it’s what most people turn to when they look for something above average but not above average price. This new collection of masks seems very promising as they target two different problems at once! Well, better yet it would have been to let you choose a top and a bottom, separately, for your own taste, but I guess they didn’t think that far.

Regardless, I really like moisturizing masks, and good lifting masks are also great for tightening the skin, so I chose the mask that seemed to please me most when it came to its functions (even though honestly it’s the ugliest from the collection).

The moisturizing mask instantly moisturizes dry, flaky skin with hydro ion mineral water and quinoa seed extract.

The mask opens easily though I must say it’s unusual for the two parts not to separate from each other before. What I mean is, they are in different pouches, of course, but the pouches don’t have a cut or tear line, so you can’t separate them.

Each of the masks is supported by a hard plastic net, and that’s really important because (later) once you remove that net the masks bend all over and fold, and they are kind of bothersome to straighten back properly. That’s why it’s nice to follow their advice of applying the mask with the net on, and only after that removing the net and fixing the mask with more precision.

The fit of the mask is… perfect? The nose is longer so different nose shapes can use it, and there is no crazy big space between my cheeks and nose.

The masks layer on top of each other so both longer and shorter face shapes can wear this without worries – my tip is choosing the mask ability you want more and applying that one first so it’ll be on the bottom (I chose blue – moisturizing).

The essences are different. I mean they are so different the blue (top) slides down and the grey one (bottom) is a thick gel that doesn’t move. However somehow they have the same drying/absorption time, which is very fascinating.

I mean, of course they would aim for that, but to actually achieve it is another thing. Both essences absorb well and are not sticky afterwards, and even in the arm test I could feel a difference of a well hydrated (not moisturized as they said) skin on top, and a tight (as in, not droopy) skin on the bottom – but we will see the results with more precision later.

There is some smell but I can’t define it well. It kind of smells very lightly of mung beans on the bottom, but on top it’s even more discreet so I really can’t define it. I guarantee only very sensitive noses can smell this, so no one should worry about it.

It’s not unpleasant and it’s very hard to define even for sensitive noses. So, it makes no sense that they would add fragrance if it was going to be like this!

The mask sticks tight to the skin all through the application, as I said, perfect fit. Because the fit is so tight, even though the weather got cold my skin didn’t feel cold as it usually does with any mask during colder times. As usual (in my case) the part under the nose starts drying before the rest, although it didn’t dry completely by the time I removed the mask. I removed the mask after 20 minutes.

As you can see, the results speak for themselves, or so it seems, right? My skin is tight AND hydrated (again, people should learn the difference, especially cosmetic companies).

But actually, I applied the rest of my skin care and the effects of the mask only lasted me until 1h later. After 1h it settled like this until I went to sleep (2h after this photo), it was gone by morning.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still really amazing but not as much as it seemed right away. For the same price (or cheaper) the Missha modeling mask lasts more impeccably for way longer than this. Of course there is no hassle (modeling masks can be bothersome and some times dirty to make, the Missha one got all over before it solidified) but I mean result-wise even the new Innisfree Green Tea Mask delivers results for longer. Are those other masks as comfortable? No. But equal or better results for cheaper? Well… count me in!

Since the quality of the mask sheet was really amazing (among the non-gel masks I tried this two tone mask comes definitely in top 2) I still want to try one of the others from this collection – who knows, maybe I just didn’t choose the right one for me.

I would rate it considering price and quality a 3.8/5

If I would consider only the quality it would definitely be a 4/5 but… well, you read the review!
