New 2018 Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum Special Set was purchased by Cosmeperks.
I met this amazing serum for the first time in 2013. I really LOVE how it worked on my skin since the first time I tried it. I think I already spent 1, 2, 3… ah, I lost my count how many bottles I’ve bought. Right, it’s Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum (the first Korean green tea skincare I’ve tried)!
This green tea serum is the world’s best seller product from Innisfree, even it’s awarded globally as best moist serum for 19 times! (well, I do know why it is). The good news, Innisfree just upgraded the formula of this lovely serum! As far as I know, they already upgraded it 3 times. In 2014, 2016 and now, the newest upgraded version in 2018!
Actually, Innisfree not only upgraded their Green Tea Seed line but also added a new product, Innisfree Green Tea Seed Essence-in-Lotion. And I extremely wanted to try everything in this line. Thankfully, they had a special set to introduce their newest formula for us. Here is New Green Tea Seed Serum Special Set which comes in a thick green box, consists of 6 products (the full size of Green Tea Seed Serum and the minis of Green Tea Seed Skin, Essence-in-Lotion, Cream, Morning Cleanser, and Sleeping Mask). Okay, get your coffee or snacks and please sit tight, it’s gonna be a long post, but I guess you are as excited as I am to try this NEW Green Tea Seed line, aren’t you?

New 2018 Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum Review:
“Enriched with freshly double-squeezed green tea from the Jeju island to deliver abundant, moisture and nourishment deep into your skin.”
This serum is housed in a green plastic bottle. I know, the other serums may come in a glass bottle, which looks more luxurious. But guess what, this plastic material is more weightless and travel friendly, right? Thus I have no complaint for the material.
This cute bottle has a pump on top to take out the product. It’s so hygienic and easy to use. I usually take only 3 pumps for my entire face and take two extra pumps for my neck. And since the volume is 80 ml (it’s quite a lot since generally serum products come in 30-40 ml), I guess one bottle is enough for 2 months or more.
I notice that Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum comes in the same bottle design since the first time I bought mine in 2013. They just made a little changes on the color of the bottle. The new 2018 Green Tea Seed Serum’s green bottle is darker than its previous version. And the new has dark grey-green lid, meanwhile the previous version has brown lid.
To be honest, the new packaging is not that important for me, I just love that they made it in the same main design like the previous version. My biggest focus is, of course, on the new upgraded formula. With double squeeze extraction and enriched with 3.5 times more 16 amino acids, will this new version give a better result than the old one?
So, I put both the old and new versions of this serum on my hand (by the way, sorry for the different lighting). Can you see the difference? Well, don’t be frustrated if you can’t because indeed both of them are same, haha. Yes, this new Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum still has a very nice texture. It is a soft and lightweight gel-like type with somewhat liquidy consistency.
There is no change in the scent. It is pretty strong but I am not offended. It is a pleasant green tea scent that, I think, is very refreshing. Even I always enjoy the scent first before applying the serum to my entire face.
Due to its lightweight and semifluid consistency, it spreads out easily and absorbs quickly onto my skin. It doesn’t leave any sticky, greasy nor heavy feeling at all. It instantly makes my skin fresh, bouncy and supple (literally SUPPLE!) without any glowy, dewy nor oily result. My oily-combi skin loves it so much!
So, is it different from its previous version or not? The answer, YES!
The texture and the scent are same, but the formula is not. At first, I didn’t notice any difference from this new upgraded version but after two weeks using this serum, I realized that the new formula is better than the previous one. Innisfree really improved it.
The new version keeps the moisture and hydration much longer than the old one. More than 6 hours after applying the serum, I felt my skin still supple and moist (oh, thanks to Dual-Moisture-Rising Technology in this new version). And, I give my two thumbs up for the brightening effect. I needed a month to realize that my skin became brighter when I used the old version, but it just took a week with this new upgraded Green Tea Seed Serum.
Using this serum for about a month really improved my skin condition. Some redness and dullness are gone, and when I touched my skin, it felt softer and bouncy. This serum hydrates my oily-combi skin nicely and gives decent moisture into my skin as well. It doesn’t make my skin more oily but otherwise, it helps to control excess sebum (though it’s not that significant, but it does). Besides, it helps to heal blemishes faster and prevent the appearance of the new ones (this is like a miracle for an acne fighter like me!).
Although this serum doesn’t work to tighten my big pores (understandable, indeed it doesn’t aim to do that, ha!) but having those awesome results is enough for me. I love how my skin looks younger as I use this serum regularly. And the supple yet not oily result is perfect for my oily-combination skin.
Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum is suitable for all skin types, but I will recommend this serum for normal to oily skin. For dry skin type, you may need other serum with heavier moist effect.
If you love glowy or dewy skin effect from a serum, you can skip this product as well. But if you dream about a lightweight serum with a nice hydration and a supple finish without making your skin looks oily, then wake up and try this serum.
Will I repurchase Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum? Big fat YES! I think it’s the right time to replace my Laneige Water Bank Essence since I get more benefits from this green tea serum (the brightening effect and the power to fight blemishes).
New 2018 Innisfree Green Tea Seed Skin Review:
“Refreshing toner delivers intense hydration and anti-oxidants from blend of Jeju green tea extract and green tea seed oil to help soften skin and strengthen it’s natural moisture barrier.”
Second step after using the Green Tea Seed Serum is this Green Tea Seed Skin. This is a toner from Innisfree Green Tea Seed line. Oh, by the way, I’m not going to talk about the packaging since I got the mini size and its package is different from the full size version. I hope it’s okay for you.
I thought this toner would be like the Green Tea Balancing Skin that I’ve tried before, but it is totally different. The Green Tea Balancing Skin has very lightweight and runny consistency, but however it’s still thicker than water.
Meanwhile this new Green Tea Seed Skin is, actually, water! So, you can clearly imagine its texture and consistency. It’s transparent, colorless and runs quickly (that’s why I oftentimes spilled it out of its hard mini bottle). The smell itself is similar with the Green Tea Seed Serum, but this one is very soft and almost unnoticeable if I don’t sniff it closely.
Due to its watery consistency, the best way to apply this toner is using a cotton pad. But since I got the mini size, so I apply it with my palms (and it’s still okay). The toner absorbs very quickly without leaving any sticky and greasy feeling. The moist and hydrating effect is less than the serum but it is enough to give a fresh feeling and supple finish onto my skin.
Though it doesn’t give amazing effect to my skin but I still like this toner. Using it after the serum will give an extra fresh feeling on my face. Moreover, it doesn’t make my skin more oily and it also contains anti-oxidants (I believe I need those substances to protect my skin).
Again, I recommend this Green Tea Seed Skin for normal to oily skin due to its oil-free result and weightless texture. So, will I buy the full size of this toner? Why not? I think this product can be one of the best friends to my Green Tea Seed Serum.
Innisfree Green Tea Seed Essence-in-Lotion Review:
“Unique serum-in-lotion blends the actives of a serum and the hydration of a lotion with antioxidants from Jeju green tea extract and green tea seed for hydrated, healthy-looking skin.”
Here is the new product from this green tea line, the Green Tea Seed Essence-in-Lotion. Will it be a 2-in-1 product? Is it a skincare that provides powerful benefits of serum but in a lightweight texture like a lotion? Well, let’s see!
First of all, I really like the texture of this essence. It comes in a lightweight lotion texture with a milky-white color. It is like a very light cream with a lot of water content. When I rubbed it onto my skin, I could feel it become more watery and absorbed pretty quick.
This Essence-in-Lotion is rich in moisture, unfortunately, it is a bit sticky on my skin. Well, it doesn’t leave oily nor dewy finish, just like the serum. But when I touch my skin, I can feel a slight of stickiness there. Yes, it makes my skin instantly smoother and softer BUT after few hours, it becomes a little bit more oily. So sad~
Unlike the serum, this Essence-in-Lotion doesn’t give a brightening effect, another down side for me. But I must admit that this product moisturizes my skin very well. And it also has very pleasant green tea scent (I think all of the products in this line have similar scents, the fresh and calm green tea. Some products may have stronger scents and the others have softer scents, but basically they are same).
If only it didn’t make my skin more oily and not sticky, I would really love this essence. It is a truly unique essence, high in moisture but very light in texture. It can be a good moisturizer for normal to dry skin. But for me, I only use a little amount of this product on my night skincare regime.
I’m not sure if I will buy the full size since the weather is hotter here. I may get back to this essence in winter, when my skin feels less oily and need more moisture.
Innisfree Green Tea Seed Cream Review:
“Soft cream delivers refreshing hydration and anti-oxidants from a blend of Jeju green tea extract and green tea seed oil to help replenish skin keeping its moisture level and give it a healthy-looking glow.”
This is actually my other HG from this green tea seed line, the cream. I got the sample size of this cream when bought my first Green Tea Seed Serum and immediately fell in love after my first application. So, okay, let me explain why I do love this cream.
Innisfree Green Tea Seed Cream has the strongest green tea scent in this line. The word ‘strong’ doesn’t mean that it has annoying scent, I just compared it with the other products from this line. However, the scent is very fresh. Even my sister who doesn’t like green tea told me that this cream smells very pleasant.
When took out the product for the first time, it looked very rich and I assumed it would be heavy on my skin. But I was totally wrong! It may look thick but actually the texture is very nice. It tends to feel like a mousse and glides sooo smooth on skin. It took about 2-3 minutes for the product to absorb completely aaand… the result is amazing!
This cream hydrates and moisturizes my skin very very well. It’s not oily nor sticky, not at all. It gives a little sheen on my face and that’s enough to make my skin looks healthier without looking dull nor greasy.
When my skin naturally becomes a bit oily, this product doesn’t make it worse but otherwise, it glows nicely. And this cream instantly makes my skin feels so soft and smooth (literally smmooootthhh!!!)
This Green Tea Seed Cream is highly recommended, besides the serum (of course). I do adore how it makes my skin smoother instantly. When I had a bad skin day (when my skin felt so rough and dehydrated), I applied this cream a lot.
It helped me to blend my foundie or BB cream evenly. I’m so in love with this cream. Green Tea Seed Cream is recommended for all skin types. It’s not only a skincare but it can be used as a primer as well. Will I buy the full size? Well, already got the full size in my hug.
New 2018 Innisfree Green Tea Morning Cleanser Review:
“Mild, non-foaming morning cleansing gel for all skin types hydrates with Jeju green tea extract while it whisks away dirt and impurities.”
I didn’t notice it, I thought it was their Green Tea Cleansing Foam. And I was so surprised when took out the product, did they renew it in a gel type?! Then I read it again, Green Tea Morning Cleanser. Ha! So, this is my first time trying out this cleanser, I only tried and knew about their green tea foam before.
As I said, this cleanser comes in a clear and lightweight gel type. It has very pleasant green tea scent, like the others in this line. This refreshing scent is perfect for my morning skincare routine. The scent gives me a good mood to start the day. By the way, it’s very great that Innisfree added a seal for this product, though it’s only a mini size.
I rubbed the gel on my palms to make foam but there was no foam. Well, this is actually a non-foaming cleanser and yes, it is. It feels very soft on my skin and doesn’t leave sticky or tight feeling after rinsed off. BUT this cleanser is too light for my liking, moreover I have an oily-combi skin.
I believe it cleanses my face nicely but I didn’t get that ‘clean’ feeling after using it. It’s true that this cleanser doesn’t take my skin moisture, but as my skin is oily-combi thus I feel like I only wash it with water. My skin still feels slick, especially on my T-zone. I would definitely prefer their foamy cleanser than this one.
I will recommend Innisfree Green Tea Morning Cleanser for dry skin type. This morning cleanser is very mild and lightweight, and also smells so nice. It cleanses skin nicely without making it drier. Hence dry skin type will love this cleanser. But for oily skin, I suggest to get other cleanser because this product will be too light to remove sebum on face. Will I buy the full size? No, thanks.
New 2018 Innisfree Green Tea Sleeping Mask Review:
“Overnight mask delivers hydration and anti-oxidants from Jeju green tea extract to awaken with dewy, well-hydrated skin.”
Did they also renew this overnight mask? I think it was Green Tea Sleeping Pack, wasn’t it? I don’t know when they exactly renewed it (2018 or before), but I can’t find the white beads in this mask anymore. But it still offers a fresh green tea scent like the old version.
This Green Tea Sleeping Mask comes in a clear watery gel type. It is so weightless and will melt when applied on skin. I actually miss the white beads because I always enjoyed to rub the beads onto my skin, haha. But however this new version still has a nice texture, though. Unfortunately, the cool sensation is less than the old version I’ve tried. Nah!
This product gives a glowy finish to my skin, but it’s not oily and still lightweight. I think the old version is more glowy than this one. Aside from that, the result of this sleeping mask is as good as the older sleeping pack. This mask hydrates my skin well during the night and I get my fresh and supple skin in the next morning. I wake up with a healthy and radiant skin after using this mask, seriously. I also find my skin becomes less oily and softer in the morning.
I will recommend this Green Tea Sleeping Mask for all skin types. It’s such a very nice product that gives a great hydration yet helps to maintain excess sebum during the night. No dullness, no dry skin, just a fresh healthy skin in the morning. Will I buy the full size? Well, yes, after finishing my Laneige Water Sleeping Mask.
All in all, I am so satisfied with the New Green Tea Seed line from Innisfree. I never changed my mind for years and always love this green tea line. Each product is lightweight and has a gentle formula for my oily sensitive skin. Even when I follow all steps applying this green tea line (serum + skin + essence-in-lotion + cream + sleeping mask), it doesn’t feel heavy on my oily-combi skin.
My most favorite products in this green tea line are the Green Tea Seed Serum and Cream, but actually all products are great and recommended. If you are looking for hydrating skincare in lightweight texture, pleasant scent and made with natural ingredients, then give it a try. Especially for oily-combination skin, this is a good skincare line to treat our skin well, keep our skin hydrated without making it more oily.
