New 2018 IOPE Perfect Cover Cushion SPF 50+ PA+++ 21 Light Beige was purchased by Cosmeperks.
When I saw this cushion the first time I was completely head over heels. Is it because I loved the Laneige Layering Cover Cushion and this one claimed to do the same? Is it because Shin Min Ah is the new face of IOPE and she’s my favorite woman in Korea and even my boyfriend calls her “the lady you like”? Or is it because I love cushions and can’t live without them? Regardless of the reason, I was thankful for the opportunity to try it and very excited about it. I have been using it for a long long time, and can give you a full review.
A high-cover cushion that gives perfect make-up without flaws throughout the day with a tightly closed cover of cream texture.
1 – All-day tight flawless cover. It is a high-cover formula containing concealer cream.
2 – Super close cover without creasing. Ceramide Cover Powder™ provides moisturizing effect to the surface of the skin that touches the makeup. The stretch mesh network makes a thin and uniform layer and makes a smooth makeup application.
3 – Non-tacky, 24-hour makeup cover. It has a finish that looks like powder. With Makeup Fix Powder included in the formula, you can make perfect makeup without creasing.

How to use:
1. Take the contents lightly by sweeping the puff downward and along the mesh net. ※ If you push too hard on the puff, there may be too much content (and believe me you don’t want to)
2. Take a small amount of puff and apply as if it is powder – gently and without too much content to allow for buildable coverage. Due to the nature of the high coverage, it is possible to cover the entire face with a small amount (so don’t be too greedy and test it out slowly first, see what fits you)
3. For extra cover on the areas where you need a higher coverage build up by applying twice.
My Skin Type: Combination (dry U oily T), sensitive, needs elasticity, hydration and moisture.
New 2018 IOPE Perfect Cover Cushion SPF 50+ PA+++ 21 Light Beige Review:
This is at the Aritaum close to my school, and imagine my happiness when I saw “the lady I like” in a big photo and a nice video screen right in front of me! This table is 1 meter away from the door, you barely even need to get in the store to see this and so I wanted to share it with you.
Since I had the chance to try the other shades too, I thought I should show you. This cushion is not a part of the “impossible to choose 1000 different options” IOPE Air Cushion. This cushion you go straight to it (or ask for it specifically) only if you like high cover and velvet finishes.
The small textured details on the cover make it elegant, although instead of a beige stripe I would prefer either gold, grey, or just the same blue/black as the rest of the box.
I like the random dots that remind me of kitchen counter stone, and the small stripes on the beige stripe and the puff remind me of stockings when seen up close.
Talking about stockings you may want to grab some for this review.
It is unusually sturdy for Korean cushions, much like the Laneige one. I guess when you pay this much for a cushion, you get some perks…
The cushion has a stocking-like cover on top. I told you there were stockings in this review. This cushion isn’t overflowing with product anymore because I have been using it, but when I press it down it grabs enough product again.
You really need to be careful when you press down, it can release a lot of product at first (before you use it all up like me tehe).
No matter how many times I read the instructions they didn’t make sense. When I used it as a normal cushion it didn’t cling well to the skin.
So in the Aritaum Makeup Class I learned how to use it, and made a drawing to better explain.
You don’t press down like a normal cushion! You swipe down and along, and not too deeply, in a U shape. And preferably only with the tip of the puff, since you can use the clean part of it to help you spread the product.
On the left you have two layers (medium, not thin and not thick) of product. In the middle a blended single puff application, and on the right a finger swatch. I think it shows pretty well just how much it can cover the skin.
And you can see what the brand means by “powdery finish”. It doesn’t look like you put powder on top, but it looks like when a person with perfect skin applies powder base. It looks velvety and not matte, and not glossy. It shows skin texture so it looks somewhat natural.
On the top left I applied first a large unblended puff on each of the spots I want to cover, on the top right I applied only the remains that were in the puff, in this case trying to make it lighter where my freckles are. I love coverage, but I also love natural-ness, so with the same product being able to “cover the unpleasant” and show the natural perks is a comfortable thing.
On the bottom I applied it on one side with full cover, and left the other side uncovered.
The powdery finish allows some of my skin texture to show, but covers all the color related imperfections. In fact, it covers the pimples (I have them small but red) so well that the pimples become just… a lump on the skin. It covers the color completely!
I have a few beauty marks on the covered side too like the ones right under my lip on the uncovered side, but they are small enough that, even though they are dark, they are almost imperceptible after the cushion is applied with full cover.
Let me explain the cover to you in a simpler way:
Full cover = two layers well spread and well patted in
Medium cover = cover imperfections and use the remaining on the puff on the whole face
Natural cover = one single puff pressing, from the center of the face spreading outwards – one pressing for the whole face
The cushion lasts indeed the whole day (I don’t mean 24h, I mean the working day, I can’t stay awake for 24h). If, and this is very important, you build up the cushion through thin layers. If you apply thickly all at once then when your sebum starts to kick in, or when you blow your nose, the cushion “unglues” from you face.
But through thin layer application? Tremendously long lasting. And it barely erases at all during the day!
It doesn’t gather on the wrinkles throughout the day, although it does gather a little on the eyelid crease and smile lines while it is settling. After the cushion settles (aka, after it glues to your skin, it takes only a few minutes) there is no gathering whatsoever. Just avoid smiling for a few minutes, and the one on the eyelids you can easily pat it out and (you waited until it settles, right?) nothing else will be erased when you do this!
Now, it does have a smell. It smells like makeup when it has a slightly perfumed scent. Not more overwhelming than your average cushion. However, by comparison, the scent on the Laneige Layering Cover Cushion is way more perfumed and more intense.
On the skin it feels heavy only if you don’t apply through thin layers, if you apply through thin layers you even forget that you’re wearing it.
The reason why it took me so long to do this review is because I was waiting for my local Aritaum store (where you can buy IOPE products) to give me one of their used up leftover products so I could see what was on the inside. Now, you can see this is a smaller size than the normal cushion, but it’s basically the same as the big one.
It has A LOT of product and they just threw it out! The cushion is full of product when you get it, and as you can see there is no actual cushion? Just the stocking covering the product. So now I know that when it seems like there is no product left… it’s just deeper in the center and there’s A LOT in the corners.
Unlike other cushions you can’t flip this one and get more product, so just dig your puff into the corners when it’s finishing.
Let’s take a moment to compare IOPE Perfect Cover Cushion with the Laneige Layering Cover Cushion. The Laneige one also plays the part of concealer and cushion in one. However, the Laneige one has separate concealer and cushion parts. Otherwise, you apply them the same.
The Laneige one has, color correction wise, the same covering abilities as this one. But it doesn’t have this “powder finish” look the IOPE cushion has, and thus it covers the skin texture too. So it looks more like doll-skin (Laneige) versus realistic skin (IOPE).
Unless, of course, you have perfect skin like Shin Min Ah, on which case you will look the same with both cushions.
Personally, I like them both even on a daily basis, depends on where I want to emphasize my look. Sometimes all I want is red lipstick, black mascara, and perfect skin, sometimes I want a blush on natural looking skin and maybe a liptint.
I won’t recommend one of them over the other, they are definitely both worthy of “cushion of the year”.
But I will definitely recommend both of them in any situation.
I love this cushion and will keep using it.
