Laneige Water Bank Quick Hydro Pen Review:
The first thing I want to mention before anything else is who writes in white with white letters?? Okay it’s really frustrating. I’m just glad I save the boxes until I write the reviews, otherwise… I couldn’t tell you the information they have there!
It’s in the claims part by the way~
And the validity date is written in a sticker. Well, that’s a little annoying. But then again, I think Laneige isn’t really good with packages so.
You press the little button and the liquid comes out on the opposite end. Pretty obvious. Works well really! For my first time using I only had to pump two times before it worked.
I have to be careful because if I pump it with the hole side down the essence is really liquid and literally falls down. You do need to pump 3 times for it to fall BUT then again, I use three pumps in different parts of my face. So, I just decided to start pumping and applying separately.
The essence spreads and absorbs well, it doesn’t feel heavy or sticky. Although the skin tends to be a little shiny after applying, it goes away after a while.
The essence does have a scent of… Laneige Waterbank. The whole collection has a similar scent really. It’s not a natural scent and it doesn’t try to copy any natural scent, nor do they claim so – so it’s all good.
Now brace yourself for horrible skin photos. The winter was harsh, and I got really stressed, and my skin is better now. The last photo is of two weeks ago even! But I needed to use that one because I didn’t really have bad (dry) skin after that – and I’m just glad I had that taken for this review.
Whereas there is no improvement on my left side (has been receiving this essence 2 times per day) compared to my essence-less right side, even though they claim it to be 2x stronger than their normal essence, it feels like their old essence to me.
And, just like their original water bank essence, there is an immediate result in hydration once applied that lasts about half a day of plumper skin and less droopy pores. In the bottom part of the photo I show a closeup so you can see how lumpy my pores are when they have no hydration – even when my skin is on its good days!
I would say the real surprise is that you can use this pen as a massage stick. You can use it with any other essence too. My wrinkles feel less deep since I apply a wrinkle focused night essence (sometimes) with the back side of this applicator. And there is less redness around my nose since I apply this essence (of course with the applicator).
Another use for this pen, or so they say, is that you can carry it in your pouch for a quick fix of hydration and to help fix your makeup.
As a hydration fix it honestly makes me feel sticky because of the sun cream, and I don’t like just fixing my makeup – I prefer removing it and applying again.
Anyway, as a hydration fix to me is useless but to fix (fix as in correct) my makeup it actually works! I had to wait days to have a dry skin day, but when I did I knew the time to try this came! I think the photos don’t show it hardly as much as I felt and saw it with my eyes, but I still thought I should show it.
I still prefer erasing it and then applying again, but, you know. This fits in your pouch and takes less time, right?
I do like the applicator and I like how I can use it with any essence. This essence in itself is hydrating which is really nice and doesn’t feel heavy. Definitely for all skin types. Using the pen also prevents extra sebum production (from the friction of my hands on my skin), which is also nice.
Koreans also carry toner and cream or lotion samples in their pouches, on which case I would definitely recommend this pen instead since it works almost as both, and you don’t have to use your hands!
If you want a short-lasting massaging pen, or if you like portable skin care then I definitely recommend! Even on top of makeup it wasn’t cakey at all, or heavy or sticky!
If you’re not into either of them, then I would pass this – the essence is not as strong as they promise.
