New F/W 2017 Peripera Ink Airy Velvet in shade 7 My Brown Coral Review:
Peripera is unstoppable. They had just added new sister in Peri’s Ink family which is Peripera Ink Cloud Velvet, and then other new collection was launched too. It is not a new product since I bet you already know Peripera Ink Airy Velvet, these are its new shades for fall and winter 2017.
Peripera made 5 new shades for Ink Airy Velvet F/W 2017. I think the new shades are unique since most of them are made in trendy brownish color. At first I saw Peripera’s official pictures, I was not interested since the colors look too bold. But after watched some reviews on Youtube, I thought the colors are pretty in real life.
I bought mine in shade 7 – My Brown Coral. It should be a coral-brownish color. This shade looks good on some reviews, but let’s see how it works on my pigmented lips. Does it hit or miss?

New F/W 2017 Peripera Ink Airy Velvet in shade 7 My Brown Coral Review:
I think there is no need to talk too much about the packaging. It is exactly same with the first collection of the Ink Airy Velvet. The bottle is housed in a unique yet cute outer box. The tube of the product itself is designed like an ink bottle, complete with ink dropper-like cap. The design is very cute, in my opinion. I never get bored with my collection of Peri’s Ink products.
The applicator has doe-foot type with short wand. The brush is slim with a bit sharper tip. The brush is also designed with a slanted angle that makes me apply the product easily. Made with super soft bristles, the brush is very comfortable to use.
You may think the applicator is same with the Ink Velvet version, but they are actually different. The Ink Velvet’s applicator is super slim but this one is a little bit wider (but it is still slim compared with other brands, though).
Also, the Ink Airy Velvet’s applicator is more slanted than the Ink Velvet’s. And the main point is on the center of the brush, Ink Airy Velvet has a hole on it. Can’t see the hole on the pictures? Me too, haha. But I’ve pricked the center of the brush with a needle and yes, there’s a hole there. This unique brush is the secret of Ink Airy Velvet’s airy-like application. Hmm… interesting, isn’t it?
Before trying the product, I have to say that you should prepare yourself, especially if you have a sensitive nose. The scent of this product is quite strong. The other Peri’s Ink products also have strong scents, but this one is a little bit strange. While the others have fruity candy-like scents, this one is dominated with floral scent (like Jasmine) with hint of something sweet. It may be too strong for some people.
I picked the shade number 7 which is My Brown Coral. I think this shade is the lightest from the other 4 new colors. When did the swatches on my hand, I immediately fell in love with it. This shade is coral with a lot of peachy tone.
This is a warm color that is suitable for daily natural look, especially on fall and winter. By the way, I love what Peripera did for us. They released new shades for every season (S/S colors for spring-summer and F/W colors for fall-winter) so their shades are always trendy and up to date. Nice marketing strategy, haha.
In this shade, I didn’t find the brown tone, but however, I do love the color like this. If you look at the swatches on Peripera’s commercial pictures, the real color is very different since on Peripera’s pictures it looks so bold and a bit brownish. Fortunately, the real color is lighter and prettier than the official pictures.
Pigmentation is good. No need a lot of layer to cover my natural lips color, one swipe is enough for natural result and twice or more to create bolder and full lips color.
Sometimes, the swatch on my hand is different with the color on my lips because my lips are pigmented. But I am very happy with this product since it gives me a similar color like the hand swatch.
Some of you may want to know about the differences between the Ink Airy Velvet and the Ink Velvet. So, I will try to describe it.
Consistency: The Ink Velvet has light lip cream texture, while the Ink Airy Velvet is more like a lip mousse. Both are creamy and glide smoothly on lips but the Ink Velvet has thicker consistency. Both are comfortable and weightless on lips, but the Ink Airy Velvet is truly airy-like. Seems like I put nothing on my lips.
Pigmentation : If I said the Ink Airy Velvet is good in pigmentation, then the Ink Velvet is super good. The pigmentation of Ink Velvet is more vibrant and bold, while Ink Airy Velvet is more natural in finish.
Finishing : Both are supposed to be matte, but I didn’t get matte result on Ink Velvet version (except I blotted my lips with tissue), the result is still a bit glossy. But the Ink Airy Velvet has a velvety soft-matte result. Its lightweight and soft texture turns into powdery finish on lips. That’s why it feels so airy without sticky feeling.
Staying power : Both are not transferproof but last long on my lips. Even after transferred, the color’s still vivid on lips (you could also check how Peripera Ink The Velvet SS 2017 Spring Orange after blotted on my other review, the color still looked so vibrant). Even the staying power is great, but I didn’t need too much effort to remove them with my cleanser (unlike Peripera Peri’s Ink).
Peripera Ink Airy Velvet doesn’t dry up my lips, even when I use it without lip balm. But as always, if you have dry lips it’s better to apply lip balm first. You can see on the pictures how it looks after more than 9 hours.
The color is gone but its soft pink stain is still there (the stain color is very different with its real color which is peachy-coral, haha). My lips still look good and not drier. Also, this product doesn’t create flaky result during the day.
The new Peripera Ink Airy Velvet F/W 2017 is not different from their first edition. There is no new formula improved, they just add the colors that are suitable for fall and winter. I must say that all new colors are very pretty (although I don’t like how the colors shown on the commercial pictures).
I want to try other shades, especially number 9 and 10. I will recommend this product for everyone who likes soft-matte lips with super lightweight texture and natural touch.
