[REVIEW] New S/S 2017 Peripera Peri’s Ink Velvet | 11 Spring Orange

New S/S 2017 Peripera Peri’s Ink Velvet 11 Spring Orange Review:

I remember I have told you when reviewing Peripera Peri’s Ink that Peripera itself is one of my favorite brand for lip products. Now, completing the series of Peripera Peri’s Ink, I am back here with Peri’s Ink The Velvet S/S 2017 New Color edition in shade 11 – Spring Orange. I know, this product is very popular among Korean lip products, thus I think I don’t have to introduce it in hundreds of words. You may already know about this product, right?

I already owned 2 from the old shades of Peripera Peri’s Ink The Velvet and this is my first time trying their S/S 2017 New Color. I purchased mine in shade 11 – Spring Orange and 13 – Charming Coral. Since the shade Charming Coral is already reviewed, so I give you the review and swatches of the shade 11 – Spring Orange. Now let’s get started!

– Matte and Intense Color without Flaking. True Color Payoff – Powerful ink-like color payoff in a single swipe. Velvet texture for soft, flake-free lips! Real velvety lips are ready with an intense color and matte finish.

– No Makeup Touch-up Necessary with This Intense Color with Lasting Power – Experience the same super lasting power of Peri’s Ink.

– No More Dry Lips with Moisturizing Ingredients. Soft Lips with Matte Finish. With moisturizing ingredients, it keeps the lips matte on the outside and moistured on the inside. The Lasting Fit Polymer complex helps both color and moisture last longer.

Even from the outer box I already felt in love with the packaging. The thick cardboard is designed with simple yet professional look. The ink tint itself is placed inside a super cute ink bottle, it’s typically Peripera’s ink family packaging. The material of the bottle is quite sturdy with doff surface. I love how Peripera makes the bottle look super cute but not childish.

Once open the cap, I sniff candy scents from the product. It smells sweet and fresh and not too strong. The applicator itself is actually doe-foot type, although the cap looks like an ink dropper.

I really like the applicator since the bristles are soft and the tip is very comfortable. The slanted and skinny tip is helpful to apply the product on your lips and creates a neat application, including on the lip corners.

I’ve tried the original Peri’s Ink before and loved the result so much, so when read whatever Peri’s Ink The Velvet claimed, I just easily believed that, haha. Well, it does its claims about the texture and pigmentation. It has creamy texture like a lip cream but more weightless and soft, but it is still thicker than a lip mousse. There is no clumpy texture so it glides smoothly on lips.

I give two thumbs up for the pigmentation. One swipe is enough to cover my natural lip color. Even without applying lip concealer to tone down my lips color, this product is still super pigmented and opaque.

Peripera Peri’s Ink The Velvet has 15 pretty color options and the shades number 11 – 15 are new released in 2017 (I want to own all the colors for real). Spring Orange is the eleventh shade and has a vibrant orange color that looks cheerful yet attractive.

Okay, I usually couldn’t be interested easily with orange-ish lip colors since my comfort zone is pink to reddish shades. But when saw this shade, I was tempted to try it. Though it’s not my daily-favorite shade but I really like its vivid orange color. The color swatch is very close with the commercial pictures, it’s so true orange!

The finishing result is not matte like the claims. It is a bit glossy once applied and becomes semi-matte when set completely. If you want to get satin finish or more matte result, you can apply it with blotting technique. I like using this trick because the orange color will look calmer and not too bright but still intense (you could look at the pictures). After blotting, it will give a semi-matte and powdery finish with velvety-lips feeling.

This product’s actually not transferproof and sadly it smudged too after 2-3 hours. But the color won’t go away that easy, it will leave a pretty stain. The stain’s staying power depends on how bold you apply the product. It will last long up till 5-6 hours if you apply bold-full lips and vice versa.

So far I never get dry lips experience while using this product, but it does not moisten my lips too. It is not completely flake-free like the claims. It may create some flakes on super dry lips. Hence wearing lip balm or exfoliating our dead skin is needed before applying this product.

I like and enjoy my Peripera Peri’s Ink The Velvet though on the other side, I can’t say this is the best lip product for me. The color options are a lot and all are pretty, the texture is also friendly to my lips, but the staying power is not that great, moreover it’s also not smudgeproof and transferproof.

But since I’m a fan of Peripera’s lip products, so I won’t complain too much. Based on its 15 pretty shades, it’s not a bad thing to have at least one shade in your makeup collections.

  1. Color payoff so crazy, the orange is so bright & beautiful. But Unnie could you tell me which is the best, Peripera Ink Velvet or Airy Ink Velvet?
Nice review & photos as always!

    • I think it depends on your personal preference. If you like highly pigmented lip cream, pick the Ink Velvet (it also has more pretty shades). But if you want the lightweight lip cream, go with the Airy ink. But overall both are great!
Hope it will help you to decide, Zahra.
