[REVIEW+SWATCHES] Peripera Pink Moment Ink the Velvet 17 Hip Beige Pink

Peripera Pink Moment Ink the Velvet 17 Hip Beige Pink Review:

After having a very good experience with the Pink Moment Ink the Gelato, finally I can try and share my thought about the next product in the Pink Moment collection, Ink the Velvet. I’m not sure why Peripera chose to release the new shades for Ink the Velvet while (I think everybody knows) that the Airy Velvet is more popular especially for international Peripera fans.

Comes in 5 brand new shades, there are 4 shades belong to neutral color family and 1 deeper pink that will suit everyone’s skin tones. The shades selection is pretty similar to the Ink the Gelato one but with different formula and finish.

I purchased the lightest shade number 17 Hip Beige Pink as I love this type of shade on myself. Just like the Ink the Gelato, do not trust the swatch picture from Peripera because the shade is too different in real life but don’t worry, you can check the real swatch picture they put on their website.

With this new collection, the packaging is totally different from the original line. Just the box itself has a really chic packaging and it has embossed designs as well on its several sides which I think makes the packaging feels more expensive.

I don’t have the original Ink the Velvet tint so I’m not sure about the applicator and the other features but on this newly launched tint, the applicator is a doe-foot applicator with a slanted shape.

I have small lips and I don’t have define lip line so a precise applicator is really important for me and unfortunately, this tint has a wide applicator so it can’t reach the corner part of my lips and my cupid’s bow area as well.

As for its scent, it has a quite nice, sweet scent but I think it smells like a kid’s medicine. It’s not too strong so it’s hardly noticeable.

The texture is really similar to the Airy Ink Velvet so in this review I’ll compare those two to see if their performances are similar as well or not. From the formula, it has a mousse type texture and it will give a nice and smooth velvet finish on the lips.

It feels so lightweight on the lips, it feels as if I apply a very sheer lipstick and not a velvet tint. It’s a bit thick for my liking but it’s easy to blend so it’s not a big problem for me.

It has a nice pigmentation unlike the Ink the Gelato one. One swipe and my whole lips is covered so if you want to make a nice gradient lips, remove the excess product on the wand first or you’ll have difficulty in blending the color because it’s too thick and can look too messy on the lips.

I suggest you to blend using a lip brush or your finger because when I tried to smack my lips to blend it, it balls up and make some weird, sticky textures on my lips.

The shade I got is 17 Hip Beige Pink and Peripera describe it as a ‘tone down beige pink’ but I think it looks more like a neutral beige on me. The color on my lips is lighter than when I swatch it on my hand but please note that the shades can look different on different skin tones so I highly suggest you to search reviews and swatches about it first. This shade may look too light for deeper skin tones but you can find other shades that will suit deeper skin tones better.

Because it has velvet finish, it’s important to prep your lips first using a lip balm or a lip scrub. For this tint, I always use a lip balm because the texture feels more drying than the Ink the Gelato and turned out that I was right!

This tint here makes my lips feel dry after 2 hours of wearing it. I can feel that my lips become flaky and some of the dry part starts to peel off. It also looks a little bit patchy and blothcy on some parts on my lips.

It doesn’t last that long either, the color will fade off completely when I ate something oily and without eating, it lasts for about 4 hours. It’s not transfer-proof but the transfer is really minimal. I tried drinking with a glass and only a small portion of color stick to the glass so I think it’s weak to oil but can hold against water really well.

It leaves a slight hint of orange tint behind but the stain doesn’t last that long as well. To retouch my lips, I usually remove the tint completely, use a lip balm, and re-applying the lip tint but it takes too much effort especially if I’m outside so when I’m out for a long time, I wouldn’t wear this tint on my lips and opt to use something different that will last longer.

Do I recommend it? If you’re curious and want to try the new edition then do so. It’s affordable and who knows if you will like it better than me but if you have dry lips, I would suggest you to try the Ink the Gelato instead of this tint because it’s more long lasting and comfortable on the lips.

Overall, it performs exactly like the Airy Ink Velvet (which is not my favorite) so if you didn’t like the Airy Ink then high the chance you won’t like this tint either.
