[REVIEW] Whamisa by Glow Recipe Green Tea Serum Toner

Whamisa by Glow Recipe Green Tea Serum Toner Review

Whamisa by Glow Recipe Green Tea Serum Toner Review:

This innovative serum toner duo was cooked up through a collaboration with well known K-beauty retailer Glow Recipe and equally as well known K-cosmetic brand Whamisa. The collaboration was intended to introduce new and perhaps not so new K-beauty consumers around the world to Whamisa grade products at a more budget friendly price without compromising quality and effectiveness.

I decided to purchase this product when formulating my skin care routine late 2017. It is one of my first introductions to both Whamisa brand and Glow Recipe brand products.

[REVIEW] Bonajour Eggplant Daily BHA Toner

Bonajour Eggplant Daily BHA Toner Review

Bonajour Eggplant Daily BHA Toner Review:

I wanted to try this product as soon as I heard about it for two reasons. One is that Bonajour is a surprisingly good brand that keeps amazing me, and they do use lots of natural ingredients. The other one is… it’s an Eggplant toner, come on. And it’s purple! Wouldn’t you want to try that?

[REVIEW] Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion

Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion Review

Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion Review:

I got the Hada Labo Gokujyun from Lazada in their 12.12 online promotion. The original price was $14 and I got it in the combo with Hada Labo Gokujyun Cleansing Oil for $18 – 2 good-quality products for $18 guys! I used a product from Hada Labo once and it was the Hyaluronic Acid Lotion. However, I did not pay attention much on the product efficacy. It just did not cause breakout for my skin. That’s all I need at that time. Now I am better aware of the ingredients and how they can be combined.

Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion is an upgrade version of the Hada Labo Gokujyun Clear Lotion. The product was released in Fall, 2015. However, I only heard of this recently. Since Lazada imported products produced in Japan and sell them in my home country.

[REVIEW] The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution Review

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution Review:

I love chemical exfoliation. It truly has been a skincare routine game changer for me (I even rarely do physical exfoliation previously). This step has helped to even my skin tone, tackle pimples and pigmentations, gives a brighter complexion and smoother skin.

After discovering the wonderful world of chemical exfoliation, I began searching for more to try. I already have an AHA treatment in my routine, so I wanted to add in an exfoliating toner to be used in rotation with the treatment. And of course, I could not help but seeing people raving about The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution almost everywhere on Instagram. With the very affordable price tag, big size and low pH formula, of course I was so intrigued to give it go!

[REVIEW] Goodness Be Cool Mist Toner

Goodness Be Cool Mist Toner Review

Goodness Be Cool Mist Toner Review:

As an unfortunate member of the population with slightly dry AND sensitive skin, I was on the hunt for a toner that would not dry my skin (like most over-the-counter drug store toners do) nor cause sneaky breakouts. I was in luck when Goodness released their Be Cool Mist Toner, which is a vegan-friendly and alcohol-free toner without any nasty parabens (a bonus for an animal-rights advocate like myself)!

I decided I would give it a try – the price of $14.99 NZD was (and still is) very affordable, so no losses either way. It also comes in a spray bottle, if you want to save time and cotton pads! I also think this line of products is really emblematic of the ‘clean, green’ image New Zealand has, being a local brand. I really love the principal the Goodness company have stuck with, and it is a big part of the reason why I trust this toner – with no parabens, alcohol, or animal testing and/or ingredients. Their line of skincare is made in New Zealand as well.

[REVIEW] Laneige Fresh Calming Toner

Laneige Fresh Calming Toner Review

Laneige Fresh Calming Toner Review:

I received this Laneige Fresh Calming Toner along with the gel facial cleanser from a beauty store as I applied for the membership. The Fresh Calming line comes with four set of products including this toner and Fresh Calming Gel Cleanser as well as a Fresh Calming Morning Mask and serum. The whole line is actually dedicated for the oily/combination young skin of 20-25 age, that kind of skin that looks oily on surface but actually dehydrated beneath.

So, even though I’m not in the range of this age and my skin is not oily, I have heard a lot of praises directed to the Morning Mask from the Fresh Calming line. It made me quite curious, and Laneige has a very credible reputation as well. The toner supposed to balance the oil and water content of skin and makes it feel refreshed, hydrated, and soothed.

[REVIEW] Hanyul Pure Artemisia Watery Calming Fluid

Hanyul Pure Artemisia Watery Calming Fluid Review

Hanyul Pure Artemisia Watery Calming Fluid Review:

Hanyul Pure Artemisia Watery Calming Fluid is a product containing baby mugwort that claims to soothe skin irritations from lack of hydration and moisture. Although the product is watery and light, it works very well to hydrate the skin, especially in a Korean skincare routine when you layer different products of lighter to thicker texture.

Since my skin is easily dehydrated, I was looking for a hydrating product that works well in my skincare routine which involves layering different products to keep my skin moisturized for longer. What I learned from my Korean friends is that it is really helpful to first put on light yet hydrating products before a rich cream to seal in all the moisture. When I saw and tested the Hanyul Pure Artemisia Watery Calming Fluid at the store, I knew it is the perfect product for replenishing hydration back to the skin during drier weather.

[REVIEW] Innisfree Perfect 9 Repair Skin

Innisfree Perfect 9 Repair Skin Review

Innisfree Perfect 9 Repair Skin Review:

Skin, toner, softener….I take them to mean essentially the same thing. “Skin” is commonly used in Korea, “Toner” in the western hemisphere and “Softener” a term coined in Japan.

I am a big fan of toners because it preps my skin by getting it all soft and ready for the serums (the important stuff!) in my skincare regimen. In this drying winter weather especially, my face starts losing moisture rapidly after I finish my cleansing. Problem is I like to faff around once I come out of the bathroom e.g. respond to Whatsapp messages, surf Facebook, check out that cute puppy post on Instagram. So a toner is essential in order to inject the much needed moisture into my skin again before applying my serum.

Innisfree Perfect 9 Repair Skin is from their anti-aging range and aims to target the symptoms of aging. It claims to contain 9 active ingredients which combats the 9 signs of aging. One thing which irks me is they only list 7 so-called signs of aging….I have counted these signs listed in the second claim below and I am definitely not getting 9!

[REVIEW] The Saem Urban Eco Harakeke Toner

The Saem Urban Eco Harakeke Toner Review

The Saem Urban Eco Harakeke Toner Review:

Even though I hadn’t read many good reviews about the Saem, I was still curious to try some of their products and so when I needed a new toner I decided to try this one out. My reasons for picking this toner aren’t that great – I wanted to try it because of “harakeke” which is a unique flax from New Zealand. It was the first time I’d seen a product with this particular plant, that and the green bottle looked so fresh, simple and well just appealing to me.

I’ll admit it’s not the best reason to try something out, but I suppose thinking the product looks good or has unique ingredients often attracts people to them, right? Or maybe it’s just me who falls for things like that?
