Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner Review:
One of the skincare steps that I feel has made a lot of difference for my dry skin is definitely the hydrating toner step. And I love using Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner for that purpose.
But of course being a skincare junkie, I couldn’t help but felt intrigued to try out Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner after looking at the short and clean ingredients list (only 8 ingredients!), reading positive reviews all over Instagram, and even the skincare guru Gothamista raved highly about it. And with that gorgeous packaging that is such an eye candy just made me weak in the knee, I simply could not resist getting the toner!
♥ Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner is waterless and contains 91.3% milk vecht root extract that packs a punch of skin beneficial properties, as it is potent with antioxidant and is anti-inflammatory.
♥ This hydrating toner is formulated to deliver intense hydration and nutrient-filled moisture to the skin.
Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Butylene Glycol, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Carbomer, Arginine.

Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner Review:
Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner comes in a cobalt blue plastic bottle with a flip top cap. The texture is clear, has no scent, and thicker than a usual watery hydrating toner. When compared to Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner, this essence toner is slightly less viscous.
I like to apply this toner using my hands. I find it has a nice slip and spreads around easily. Though the texture is a bit viscous, it sinks into the skin pretty fast and dries down matte.
With Klairs toner, I would normally apply 3 layers and it leaves my skin dewy and well hydrated. But with Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner, after 3 layers I would feel like I did not apply any hydrating toner at all. Sometimes I would try applying more than 3 layers, but it still did not feel hydrating enough.
I am honestly underwhelmed by this product. I do like how it is unscented and absorbs easily into the skin, but other than that I did not see any significant results.
Especially when I have Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner to compare to, Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner is a big letdown. This shows how true the term “Your Mileage May Vary” in the skincare lingo! What others love, you may feel otherwise.
I would not repurchase this. This breaks my heart a little because I love the packaging so much that I was hoping it would earn a permanent spot in my skincare cabinet! Lol!
I would recommend this for combination to oily skin, as it is light and and dries down matte, which I feel these skin types would appreciate and enjoy. I even passed this toner to my oily skin husband to try out. For dry skin type, this may not be enough for you.
