As I constantly struggle with hormonal cystic acne, I try not to use heavy creams that are oil based, especially in the summer time. Now that it’s getting warmer in Canada, I am starting to breakout more. I was eagerly looking for a gel cream to not only hydrate but heal my skin, and I came across the A’pieu Madecassoside Cica Gel.
A’pieu is really famous for their Madecassoside line. They have a massive skincare range from toners and ampoules to creams and cleansing foams. I am an avid user of the Madecassoside sun cream and I absolutely adore it, but I’ll save that for another review.
The gel comes in a tub and a tube that are both 50ml. I chose the tube version for sanitary purposes as I don’t like the idea of dipping my fingers in.

A’PIEU Madecassoside Cica Gel Review:
I have been a fan of the A’pieu Madecassoside Skincare range for a while. I currently own the highly rated madecassoside ampoule, sun cream and madecassoside cream! This cica gel was a great addition to the family. The ingredients are amazing, lots of Centella Asiatica extract, which promotes healing and elasticity of the skin, and no synthetic fragrances or essential oils. As essential oils cause irritation to my skin, it’s safe to say that this gel is good for sensitive skin users.
The gel comes in a plastic tube packaging (not like an ointment). I prefer the plastic tube as it does not break after frequent usage and squeezing. The gel itself is rather thick, and has a yellow hint to it. I believe the Centella Asiatica Extract causes it to turn a little yellow, so it’s not oxidization, don’t worry!
Before I get into the in-depth review, I’d like to advise all readers of my skincare routines.
My skin is acne prone, dry on cheeks. I breakout on my cheeks and chin, usually cystic and hormonal. I try to moisturize as much as I can, however I stay away from oil based moisturizers as I feel like that may cause me to breakout even more.
Moving on to the review of the product, I started using it day and night as it works well as a makeup primer. It initially feels thick, however once spread it out my skin absorbs it easily without feeling heavy. It also leaves my skin with a good shine, nothing too greasy but with that “dewy, glass skin look”.
As a heavy sleeper myself (I turn a lot in my sleep), my face usually feels really dry in the morning. However, with this gel, my face isn’t too dry when I wake up – which proves that it actually works really well in absorption and hydrating the skin overnight.
I do not notice any fading of acne scars while using this, but my skin heals quicker especially when my skin is irritated by the weather or sensitive to new makeup I used.
Therefore, I feel like sensitive skin users will love this product. This gel is also alcohol free, and can be used all over the body. It is definitely a great protective barrier for your skin.
Note that I have not tried many cica products, this is my first and I can’t compare it to other products with cica as an ingredient.
I highly recommend this cica gel for any skin type. Being non-comedogenic, it’s perfect for sensitive, acne prone skin people. For readers with dry skin, layer a thick amount at night. As a gel, it absorbs really quickly and does not leave skin greasy. Finally, a gel cream without any alcohol!
I absolutely adore this as my daily moisturizer, and will continue purchasing it. The Madecassoside line by A’pieu is extremely affordable and I recommend everyone to check them out.
