[REVIEW+SWATCHES] Romand Zero Velvet Tint 04 Burnt Heart

Romand Zero Velvet Tint 04 Burnt Heart was purchased by Cosmperks.

If you follow Korean beauty bloggers on Instagram, then you must’ve heard about this brand Rom&nd (read as Rom-and). When I searched about the brand, it was revealed that Romand is a Korean beauty brand made by a celebrity makeup artist and YouTuber Saeron Min (widely known as Gaeko). Lately they really did well in promoting their brand by endorsing some well-known beauty bloggers. When I checked their website, they didn’t have too many products, they only have several lip products, some eye palettes, and a blusher.

One of the most promoted product is the Zero Velvet Tint which Nigama offered me to try. They claim it as a velvet tint but after I tried it, I don’t think it belongs to tint category, it’s more like a lip cream instead of a tint. If you are familiar with western style lip cream, you will find a lot of similarities with this product.

The Zero Velvet Tint is available in 6 shades and most of them are more on the darker side. It has various undertones such as red, orange, and rosy from the swatch picture but since everyone has different skin undertone, I am curious on how the shade will look on me.

Claims :

Romand Zero Velvet Tint 04 Burnt Heart Review:

Not gonna lie, the packaging didn’t really catch my attention. It comes in a paper box packaging with same color as the shade itself and you can see the shade’s name on the side of the box. From the outer packaging, it has a liquid lipstick feeling instead of a tint.

The bottle itself is transparent and it has a greyish lid with ‘Rom&nd’ word on it. I’m sorry to say this but the grey color makes the overall bottle looks a little bit dull. In my opinion, if it has white lid, it will look brighter and cleaner.

It has a rounded tip applicator so it’s hard for me to apply the corner part of my lips. Because of the tip, I can’t draw a precise line especially on my cupid’s bow area. The applicator also picks too much product so every time I pull the wand out, I have to wipe the excess product first.

The shade I chose is the shade called ‘Burnt Heart’. On the official picture from Romand, it’s a pretty dusty pink shade that look wearable for daily uses. On my fair complexion with neutral — warm undertone, the shade looks more like a deep mauve color but I really like it!

I don’t have any lip product with this shade so it’s really refreshing to try something new. I used this when I attended the Christmas mass at my local church and everyone said that the lip color is pretty which makes me believe this type of shade match my skin tone well.

No matter what your undertone is, I think this shade will look good on you. The only difference is people with cool undertone may find this shade look more purplish mauve on them while on warm undertone the shade will look more on the rosy side. What I love from this shade is how it will complement every skin tone, from fair to deep so I can say it is the perfect universal shade for everyone.

The pigmentation is really good, I only need one swipe for my lips to be fully covered. Because it’s really pigmented, I only use the product thinly on my lips especially since I’m not used to wear a bold lip color. If I wear it thinly, the shade will look like a light rosy mauve and it’s perfect for the MLBB effect.

The texture is creamier than I thought. When I opened the lip cream and saw the applicator, I thought it will have a mousse texture but turns out it is more like a creamy liquid lipstick. It is really easy to blend! I only have to use my finger, dab the lip cream several times and I will get a smooth and perfect gradient lip. When I apply it fully on my lips, it also glides smoothly and not patchy at all. I love how versatile this product is since it’s perfect for making both gradient and full lips look.

Even though Romand said that it is a velvet tint, the finish is more on the creamy side because it never dries fully to a velvet or matte finish. Even after I wait for several minutes to let it set, the finish still feels wet and creamy. I don’t mind though because the finish feels very comfortable on my lips. But because of the creamy texture, it is easy to smudge. When I wore this, I even found it smudge the top of my mouth area.

It doesn’t emphasis any of dry parts on my lips but I’d still suggest you to prepare your lips with a lip balm first though because after several hours, I can feel my lips start to get dry and even some of the dry skin got peeled off of my lips. This usually happen when I used a liquid lipstick or a lip cream but didn’t prepare my lips correctly.

For its lasting power, I can’t say that it is the most long lasting lip cream I’ve tried. The color will fade mainly on the inner part of my lips after I ate something oily but it hold against water really well! It’s not transferproof or waterproof, but it’s water-resistant. The color still intact even after I drink using either straw or directly from a glass.

It also really easy to re-apply since the texture is more forgiving and easy to work with. I don’t have to remove the layer underneath before reapplying the new one because the color will blend together without making my lips look dry or patchy.

So will I get it in another color? I don’t think so. To be honest I think this lip cream here has ‘so-so’ quality, means it’s okay but not perfect. I’ve seen a better lip cream than this with more affordable price (I have to admit it, Romand prices are more on the higher side).

Of course I’d use this product again but it won’t be listed on my top lip products. If you have very dry lips, I don’t think you will like it. My mom tried it as well, she has normal lips and she loves this lip cream so much so if you have normal lips like her and love bold colors, definitely get and try it.
