[REVIEW] Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Pad

Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Pad Review:

Yay, it’s a Secret Key product again for me! I’ve always find their products are attractive, mainly because its down-to-earth price doesn’t mean a ‘just so-so’ quality. I was looking for a new physical exfoliator product back then, since my previous one almost wore off, and I found the method of using peeling pads was quite interesting.

There were a lot of options, though, from Neogen to COSRX, but I finally bought this one : Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Pad. It was due to the price, honestly *chuckling* and the fact that Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Gel from the same line was perfect for me.

+ One step peeling and exfoliating pad with Betaine Salicylate (Salicylic Acid) & Lemon extract that gently remove dead skin cells without irritation and promote visibly clear, smoother, and brighter skin.

+ May use for fixing make up.

Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Pad Review

Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Pad has a plastic jar packaging inserted to a box as a secondary packaging. As usual, product’s full information was written on the box including product name, claim, ingredient, volume, usage directions, ingredients, cautions, even the manufacturer address. After opening the jar, you’ll find a lid (“Sealed for Your Protection”) to ensure product hygiene.

The pad itself wasn’t too big, only approximately 6 – 7 centimeters in diameter. It has strong alcoholic scent; besides, due to the high content of alcohol (it’s third on the ingredient list!), the major content of lemon must be a factor too since lemon tends to smell tangy.

The pad is white-colored, with two different sides of texture. One side is less smooth than another, since it’s the ‘embossing part’ that was mentioned in the usage directions, but both sides are quite smooth just like normal beauty cotton.

Because of its cotton-like texture, at first I didn’t think this peeling pad did any exfoliating as it just felt like weeping your face using cleansing water. Turned out the peeling effect was more significant after using the smooth side.

My skin was felt much smoother and clearer. The nice sensation usually remained for three days, leaving my skin soft and nice for the following days. I happily state Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Pad’s knack of removing dead skin cells and promoting visibly clear skin.

Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Pad Review

I use Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Pad once a week after washing my face with facial foam, and usually I can see some vivid dirt on its surface. Apparently this pad was able to catch some dirt from my face, albeit I regularly cleansed my face. It was seen clearly in the photo that there was some stain from my face. Well, I guess this pad really exfoliates my skin nicely.

As claimed that Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Pad ‘may be used for fixing make up’, I did some additional test. Regarding this claim, Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Pad should have decent make-up-erasing power, shouldn’t it?

I tried swatching some make-up products on my hand :

Beauty Creations Tease Me Palette, Etude House Bling Bling Eye Stick, Etude House Catch My Eyeliner Lovely Me:ex, IN2IT Hair Brush Eyeliner Pen Waterproof, Secret Key Red Carpet Tattoo Tint, and Glow Lip Treat. As you can see in the photos, I did the swipes up-to six times :

1x swipe (emboss side); the make-ups were slightly swept off

6x swipe (emboss side); this was the optimal result by the embossing side. The make-ups were almost disappeared

1x swipe (smooth side); the make-up’s remnants were hardly noticed

As you can see in the photo, only a vague smear of Glow Lip Treat remained. So, for fixing make up? Definitely yes!

According to cosDNA, it’s only PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil as surfactant that has safety index 3, while the others stay safe by showing safety index 1 – 2. Considering its ingredients, I think this product would be more suitable for oily skin bearers like me, although the dry skin bearer should only beware on the alcohol content.

However, even the alcohol content is innocuous, not to mention its acne-safety and irritant-safety. Apparently Secret Key products have never failed me up to now. Yay!
