[REVIEW] Shiseido SENKA Perfect Whip Collagen in

Shiseido SENKA Perfect Whip Collagen in Review:

SENKA is a Japanese brand under Shiseido, and the particular SENKA line is the ‘drugstore’ line products. The most famous product from SENKA line is happened to be the blue, original Perfect Whip Cleansing Foam.

I haven’t tried the original version yet, but I have heard good things about it. So when I saw the ‘collagen’ version of SENKA Perfect Whip, I was interested to try. Shiseido was recognized as a luxury Asian brand, but the price of this SENKA Perfect Whip Collagen is affordable (I bought this for 149 NTD in Watsons Taiwan).

Shiseido SENKA Perfect Whip Collagen in Review:

I didn’t read the product description carefully before purchasing this SENKA Perfect Whip Collagen. When I was home and read through the ingredients, I was disappointed finding that the ‘soluble collagen’ is super low in the ingredients list, which means it only contains a super little amount of it despite writing ‘collagen’ on the product name.

It also contains alcohol and doesn’t contain any natural ingredients. On the bright side, it’s free of paraben, sulfate, and silicone. When I used the ingredients analysis on cosDNA, the safety index rating ranges from 1-6. Stearic acid and myristic acid marks 2 for acne trigger, and lauric acid marks 4. Based on Skincarisma, the notable ingredients are sodium hyaluronate which promotes wound healing and citric acid for anti-aging ingredients.

It comes without a box, just a simple pink-colored tube with white texts in the front and back side. Most information is written in Japanese letters.

It has a white flip-flop cap. Despite the bulky packaging, this product is travel-friendly because the flip-flop cap is sturdy enough that I don’t have to worry about leakage when I brought this all the way from Taiwan to Indonesia.

The product has off-white color with quite feminine scent. You can tell that this product is definitely perfumed, so I wouldn’t recommend this for those who are sensitive to fragrance (although I personally like the scent). The scent will get stronger once you build up the product with water and it becomes white, soft, bubbly foam.

I only need very little amount of it per application (a pea amount of it can whips up into a lot of foam). You can build a mountain of foam if you whip the foam using foaming net or cleansing brush (like Clarisonic).

I felt my face was relatively clean after washing my face using this product. It didn’t dry my face or make my face tight, but it also didn’t make my skin feeling bouncy or supple like what I expect of a collagen facial wash.

Since washing face strips up oil and moisture from the skin, this kind of disappoint me; I was hoping more from a facial wash with ‘collagen’ on its name.

I usually use SENKA Perfect Whip Collagen in as my second cleanser when I use make up. It’s not very effective to remove make up by itself. I tested this facial foam to remove some of my makeup. As you can see in the picture, this facial foam couldn’t remove my makeup perfectly, as there was some residue left.

Overall, this is a cheap and effective facial foam, but I am not going to repurchase it. This facial foam whips up into a mountain of foam like its claim (and it’s fun to play with, too), but it doesn’t leave my skin feel moisturized nor hydrated.

I also wouldn’t recommend this to those who are sensitive to alcohol, fragrance, and have dry skin.
