[REVIEW] Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Sheer Shine Lipstick CR 350

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Sheer Shine CR 350 Review:

I got this lipstick last time at the airport when I went to visit my family. I had been wanting to try these since I saw Go Jun Hee in She Was Pretty, since all about her makeup there was goals for daily life.

I don’t care much about the drama story, but I love the characters’ styles and I love how it shows the way Korean society revolves around looks and makeup. So I was enticed by it – so natural, light, but at the time also so expensive.

This product has eventually become one of the most famous Shu Uemura products, and I think they won’t ever get rid of this collection. They add colors, they redesign the package, but I think the demand is still too big. So I was able to find it easily, and came home with one.

From the website:

♥  The rouge unlimited sheer shine is a lightly melting lipstick enhanced with hybrid pigments to create a beautiful sheer finish.

♥  The formula blends easily with your own lip color and lets you create a one-and-only style all of your own with magnified shine and vibrant color.

♥  A fusion of natural emollients provides superb moisture to the lips that is ultra comfortable to wear. Your lips will love the smooth and lightweight sensation and bright sheer coverage.

♥  The soft melting texture of the new lipstick formula contains macadamia nut paste mix and candelila extract wax to give a glossy finish and easy spread ability.

♥ This lipstick is created with an incredible new technology: Shu Uemura’s 2nd generation hybrid pigments produces a more vivid, wider range of color while retaining the pureness and transparency.

I usually keep my lipsticks in the shape I buy them in. So, whereas the lipstick comes with a flat top, it’s a prettier flat top when it’s new!

And the reason I keep it in the same shape is simply for design reasons, if the product always looks pretty and new I always feel more like using it.

The design is classic, pretty and transparent, and numerous brands copied it in a way or another. The difference is that usually plastic bases look cheap when they’re transparent, but this one looks elegant to a T!

One thing that’s fascinating about the sheer shine collection is that it’s a tinted lipstick that’s literally sheer (and thus literally transparent of course). So the more layers you apply, the more vivid and intense the color is.

I usually apply one layer to daily life and it looks like a natural lip tint. It also makes it easier to make lip gradients. The color is more pink and less red than this picture shows, you can see below on the lips.

I took the transfer photo in different days because I didn’t want to add an extra layer and do it on the same day, because that might change things, who knows. Anyway, the transfer is considerably less if you allow the lipstick to settle.

This lipstick feels like you applied lip balm, it’s very light and very moisturizing. Usually when I wear it I don’t apply lip balm during the day, I just keep layering the lipstick each time my lips get dry (which, since the lipstick tints the lips a little, results in a relatively intense color in the end of the day).

Generally speaking, because they are transparent colors they will match any makeup, any skin tone, any skin undertone, since the real you will always shine under it.

That’s actually a good thing! This way people don’t have to stick to a family of colors (for example, Go Jun Hee usually wears orange on her lips, but she pulls off this color and looks just as cool).

I bought it because of all the hype it had years ago, but I do understand the hype now that I bought it. It’s really good quality, at no point it looks cheap on the lips. It’s very moist so it’s equally comfortable! I would get it again any time I’m looking for a good quality lipstick.

In case you’re wondering about this color specifically, the Maybelline Baby Lips in Electro Pink (one layer) looks like this in 2 layers. (Except that it looks cheaper, and that it actually makes my lips flake if I wear it the whole day)
