Skin Watchers Galactomyces Whitening Essence Review:
Skin Watchers is a brand I remember seeing many people talking about however, after I started learning more about it, I feel like not many people know about it. I’ve wanted to try a product with galactomyces for so long so I just impulsively bought this because it said galactomyces and it was a good deal.
Oh little did I know.. This product actually has a pH of 4-5 (which sounds amazing to me since I have acne aka my skin’s pH is somewhere around 7.5 to 8 so it needs to get lower. Also, it contains A LOT of amazing ingredients and my beloved aronia which I have no idea what it can actually do BUT it tastes great in tea (I’m kidding it’s in the berries with the highest amount of antioxidants aka what makes the skin clear, but it does taste GREAT).
+ This essence contains 76% of yeast fermentation distilled water and 10% of galactomyces ferment filtrate,
+ Aronia, vegetable extracts and many many things I can’t pronounce.
+ Thanks to those, it claims it can improve the skin’s resilience and elasticity, improve and brighten and vitalize the skin tone.
+ All that while being paraben and phenoxyethanol free (these two irritate the skin and are pretty bad for you and the environment. It’s also free from synthetic coloring and fragrance.
Did you think these were all the claims? HA! I swear this essence has claims for every single problem I have and don’t have. It says it has a sleek and stickiness free texture. Furthermore, it can balance the sebum and moisture level of the skin (good for elasticity). On top of that, thanks to its content of fermented ingredients, it claims it has anti-wrinkle and whitening effects.
Yeast Ferment Extract, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Niacinamide, 1.2-Hexanediol, Panthenol, Provitamin B5, Allantoin, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Water, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Butylene Glycol, Ethyl Hexanediol, Aronia Melanocarpa Fruit Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Adenosine, Arginine, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA
How to use:
1. Twice a day or just in the pm routine. After cleansing and toning your face, dispense the amount you find appropriate and gently pat/ massage it onto the skin.
2. Wait till it dries and continue with your skincare routine.
3. This product is enough to use without a serum or emulsion except for people with troubles on their skin.
My Skin Type: acne prone, with lots of hyperpigmentation, no wrinkles, oily dehydrated.
Skin Watchers Galactomyces Whitening Essence Review:
When I got this it wasn’t full; I don’t know if that’s how they sell it or if mine was problematic but I still proceeded to use it on my skin, a bit cautiously.
I was very surprised by how quickly this product reached the bottom. I’ve been using this just a bit less than 60 days but it’s already empty!
Generally, I wouldn’t say I’m a person who uses too much product on the skin; I’d say I use just enough product to go everywhere on my face. That’s why I think for people who use a lot this would last way less. That’s probably the only thing I didn’t like about this product, I’d buy a liter of this if I could.
To change the mood, a thing I ABSOLUTELY LOVED about this was the dispenser. It’s easily the best dispenser I’ve seen. I’ll use it forever. It’s light, the pump on foot is soft and easy to use, it gets the perfect amount out and it’s made of class so it makes a satisfying sound when you close it.
It has no smell and no color as it claimed (niceee). It’s very thin and when I put it on the skin it feels like water. Needless to say, it spreads super easily and gets absorbed in a matter of seconds. After the skin absorbs it, you can’t tell it’s there since it is completely matte. It has a nice cooling effect; I think I’d love using it in the summer too.
Niancinamide works nicely on my skin. I previously tried The Ordinary’s Niancinamide but at first it broke me out a bit. As I re introduced it, it worked but it still needed some boost. By the time I started seeing results, it was empty. When I realized this serum had niancinamide I had a ‘wow’ moment.
I instantly fell in love with this serum. It’s very light, feels nice and fresh but it doesn’t give me the same instant results with The Ordinary’s one. The ordinary one would calm a breakout in a matter of hours but this one needs its time, I feel like it works from the inside and not only on the surface of the skin. It’s definitely fast to give brightening results which makes me happy.
From the first couple of days I used it (both in the morning and in the evening), I started getting brighter skin. My hyperpigmentation became a tiny bit lighter and the bumps became a bit smaller. Especially in the area below my eye bones, the top of my cheeks and the middle of my forehead, my skin is obviously way brighter.
I thought if it were to continue being that way, it’d definitely clear up my skin. Sadly it didn’t but hey- my skin is brighter and I’ve been using it for only 60 days! I feel like I’m still going to get some extra results from it; even though it’s now empty.
I’ve been using it with the Mamonde AC clean up emulsion and slowly my skin is getting better. My skin also became smoother at the areas where I don’t have acne.
I loved everything about this essence except for its size. I’ll repurchase if they make a bigger one. I think this is truly a product for all skin types and all kind of troubles. If you’re not allergic to the ingredients, I definitely recommend trying it out.
