[Review] Skinfood Aloe Watery Sun Water Gel SPF50+ PA+++

Skinfood Aloe Watery Sun Water Gel SPF50+ PA+++ Review:

I have never really liked sunscreen before but since my dermatologist made it perfectly clear it’s a must, I embarked on my quest to find the perfect sunscreen. I have tried a few dozen Western ones and they were all either too greasy, or too white, or too patchy, or too cakey.

So after all the good things I have heard and read about Korean sunscreens I decided to give them a shot. After a lot of research, one of the first I ordered was Skinfood Aloe Watery Sun Water Gel and I am very happy I did.

+ Skinfood claims that this is a light-weight non-greasy sunscreen.

+ It is supposed to be waterproof as well.

+ The Aloe Vera extract moisturizes, calms and soothes the skin.

Volume: 50 ml

How to use:

After your daily skincare, apply an appropriate amount to your face and neck, avoiding the eye area. It is recommended to apply it 15-20 minutes before going out in the sun. Reapplying every few hours is also recommended.

My Skin Type: Combination, acne-prone, sensitive and on occasion – dull and with dry patches

Like the name suggests it has a watery, light-weight texture. When applied to the skin it doesn’t feel heavy at all. It sinks in relatively fast and quite well and doesn’t leave a noticeable white cast.

It sits well under makeup and as far as I have noticed it gets along well with all of my makeup. It doesn’t make the skin oilier throughout the day, which is a big plus for me.

The fragrance is that of your typical sunscreen, without being too overpowering and heavy and in fact it fades away almost immediately after application.

As for the ingredients, they are relatively safe, with just a few alarming ones in the CosDNA site but not enough that it won’t be suitable for sensitive skin types. The added Aloe Vera is a big plus in my book, since we all know that Aloe Vera is very beneficial for our skin.

It came wrapped in a simple plastic film. And as you can see the sunscreen itself is in a tube, which for me is a preferred type of packaging, since it is more hygienic.

I have been using it for about a month now and I can say that I am very happy with its performance. The weather here has been very hot and I haven’t noticed my face getting oilier than usual with this sunscreen.

I should also mention that besides Gel there are several other varieties of this sunscreen – Daily, Waterproof and No Sebum.

I will definitely repurchase it again. It is a great sunscreen for summer and I think people with oily or combination skin will love it because it is light and refreshing. If you have dry skin, you might want to put some moisturizer before it since I don’t think I would be moisturizing enough on its own.
