[REVIEW] Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Serum

Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Serum Review:

SOME BY MI was really a hit in 2018. Their 30 Days Miracle Line was very popular due to the amazing claim of repairing skin condition in 30 days. The 30 Days Miracle Line consists of bar soap, toner, serum, and cream. I didn’t give any serious attention to the brand until I almost ran out of my The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. I was looking for an affordable serum, with safe ingredients, which can help with the appearance of my pores. My nose and cheek pores are wide open, with some visible blackheads T_T

I did my searching online and found that one way to reduce the pores’ appearance is by using AHA or BHA to clear whiteheads and blackheads. Thus, SOME BY MI AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Serum grabbed my attention since it contains AHA, BHA, PHA as chemical exfoliator and Tea Tree & Centella Asiatica Extract to help soothing the skin and taming acne.

Claims:

+ AHA, BHA, and PHA work as effective exfoliator to leave skin cleaner and more radiant than before.

+ It is beneficial for soothing the skin as Centella Asiatica Extract of 14.5% and Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Water 10,000 ppm is included and skin turnover with smooth skin texture is possible as AHA, BHA, PHA components which remove the dead cell.

Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Serum Review:

Actually, the more famous product from this line is the AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner, but I wasn’t in dire need of toner so I choose the serum instead.

It comes with a carton box and had a hologram seal on the upper side of the box. The hologram seal was already broken when it was delivered to me, and the seller said that it was due to the long-distance shipment from Korea and the seal wasn’t so strong to start off. I don’t mind this since I trust the seller, so if you wanna buy this product, make sure you buy from a trusted seller 😉

The product is packed in a pipetted bottle. Both the box and the bottle are dominated with white and emerald green color, and I personally think the bottle looks pretty on skincare shelves. It has two layers, natural essence for moisturizing and vegetable oil for forming barrier. Shake the bottle for a while to mix the layers before applying the product.

After shaking, the oil parts will mix in the solution inside the pipette (as you can see in the picture). The pipette doesn’t take up much product in one push, and it only takes few seconds for the product to separate again. The bottle is made from plastic, which is a good thing to prevent breaking down the bottle while shaking.

The serum is very runny, almost like water. It has beautiful light green color with fresh scent which I love. Although it contains oil, it doesn’t make my skin oily or greasy. It hydrates my skin and make it plump. I usually use 4-5 drops for my whole face and neck.

I don’t apply it using my fingertips as in the direction. Instead, I drop it directly to my face and spread it using my fingers. Important tip: always use sunblock when you are using products containing AHA, BHA, or PHA in the morning since it can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. As for me, I only use this on my night routine.

I looked up online and here’s the breakdown of the star ingredients:

AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid): eliminate whiteheads (contained in Citric, Glycolic, Lactic, Malic, Pyruvic, and Tartaric Acids in the serum formulation)

BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid): reduce blackheads (contained in Gaultheria Procumbens Leaf Extract in the serum formulation)

PHA (Polyhydroxy Acid): improve skin tone and texture (contained in Lactobionic Acid in the serum formulation)

Tea Tree Water Extract: helps control sebum and pore care

Centella Asiatica Extract: soothing and strengthening skin barrier

Before using the product, I had several tiny bumps on my forehead and a pimple on my nose. I had high hopes that this serum would help me tackle them, since it has Tea Tree and Centella Asiatica Extract in it. I dab the serum religiously every night on my skin… but sadly, it does not do any good on my bumps and pimple.

It stayed there, even after 30 days using the serum. It also did nothing to my pores and my blackheads, which was the main reason why I bought this AHA BHA PHA serum in the first place.

In conclusion, I am disappointed since the serum doesn’t work for me… The AHA/BHA/PHA/Tea Tree/Centella Asiatica Extract does not do any noticeable result on my pimple/tiny bumps/pores/blackheads. However, I like how it hydrates my skin and I give plus points for its loving scent and the fun part of mixing the layers before using. So, no repurchase, but I might try another product from SOME BY MI in the future.

  1. The amount of acids is very small in the serum. I’m not surprised it didn’t work. Also, the acids are in ppb (parts per billion) not ppm (pp million), so 1000 ppb = 1 ppm.
