[REVIEW] T.P.O with LINE Friends Calming Mask Sheet

T.P.O with LINE Friends Calming Mask Sheet Review:

As my skin flushes easily, sheet masks advertising soothing or calming effects usually attract me the most as the essences used are more likely to be less irritating. Looking at this mask gave me a similar impression due to the relatively harmless ingredients list, but did it deliver when my skin needed some much needed calming effects?

Claims:

“This calming mask is featured with Sally of LINE Friends. It is designed for oily and sensitive skin type for calming and soothing the skin, while maintaining oil balance and reduce acne formation to retain pure and clear skin.”

*Considering the skin’s 4-week turnover term, it is most effective to use consecutively 2-3 times a week for 4 weeks. (One month concentrated skin management program)

How to use:

  1. After cleansing, even out skin using a toner. Take the mask out of its package, unfold, and place the sheet on the face.
  2. Rest comfortably for 10-20 minutes and remove the mask.
  3. Remove the mask, and let the skin absorb the remaining essence by gently patting the skin.

T.P.O with LINE Friends Calming Mask Sheet Review:

First off, the mask packaging definitely caught my eye due to the cute mascot – Sally, if I’m not mistaken – from the popular LINE Friends series. So for those who enjoy collecting LINE Friends merchandise or just cute stuff in general, this would probably be a nice marketing gimmick to buy into. Otherwise, everything seems pretty ordinary.

Opening the packet, I do notice a mild herbal scent, which I surprisingly quite liked. It’s definitely not strong enough to annoy most people, in my opinion.

The sheet mask itself is made of very thin material – cotton, I assume – which surprised me as I was trying to put it on. Coupled with the fact that there was no plastic backing, unfolding the delicate mask was quite a struggle.

Fortunately, due to the thin material, the mask felt very nice and soft on my face. Also a note that the mask was absolutely soaked with clear, watery essence. It was relatively runny, but not much was left in the packet after use.

Fit-wise, I fell in love almost immediately as it fit my face like a glove! My facial contours were covered perfectly. However, it did leave a smidge of uncovered space around the centre of my face, ie. around the nose and mouth area. But overall, I was very impressed.

After waiting around 20 minutes – during which I felt no itchiness or irritation – I took off the mask despite it still feeling relatively wet; just to test out adhering to the recommended time for once in my sheet masking career, haha.

Anyway, as it claimed to soothe the skin, I definitely expected it to at least reduce the facial redness I was experiencing prior to masking, and lo’ and behold, it did in fact lead to a more even-toned complexion! Face also felt more hydrated.

However, despite the enjoyable masking session and initial after-masking effects, after waiting for a few minutes for the extra essence to absorb into my skin, my whole face gradually reddened and felt itchy. It was shocking and horrifying, to say the least. Stupidly thinking my usual moisturiser might help calm the itchiness, I followed on to the rest of my routine, but of course, it didn’t as the damage was done, so to say.

Hence, although I quite liked it at first, I might be allergic to something in the ingredients list or just the formulation itself, which is pretty disappointing. Therefore, I’d probably rate it a 3/5 as it is a pretty decent mask, with marks deducted due to the delayed after effects.
