[REVIEW] iUNIK Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil

iUNIK Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil Review

iUNIK Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil Review:

If you are into k-beauty, then you might be familiar with double cleansing. This two-step cleansing technique consists of using an oil-based cleanser to get rid of dirt, makeup, and sunscreen residue before using a water-based cleanser. For someone who only wears light makeup (or no makeup at all) daily, I didn’t think I needed to do both to fully clean my face. Boy was I wrong! Ever since I added an oil-based cleanser as the first step in my skincare routine, I noticed a huge improvement. Particularly, I saw a decrease in the number of blackheads and whiteheads on my nose.

Once I realized the importance of double cleansing, I made it a goal to find the perfect oil-based cleanser for me. Most k-beauty enthusiasts prefer to use cleansing balms such as the Banila Co. Clean It Zero or the Heimish All Clean Balm. I’ve tried samples of both and I found them effective but also inconvenient. To me, the idea of using a product which comes in a tub (with a lid that you’d have to twist open and a spatula to scoop out the product), is just too bothersome so I decided to get an oil cleanser in liquid form instead.

The brand iUNIK was fairly new to me when I got this product. I had read great reviews about the brand from a lot of Instagram influencers so I got intrigued. So when a Shopee store carrying iUNIK products went on a 50% off sale for Black Friday last year, I immediately got it. If I remember correctly, I scored this for only $12 which is a decent price for a cleansing oil.

I’ve been using this product for about three months now so I think my opinion about this is now pretty solid. You what that means right? It’s time for a review! But before that, here are some things you might want to know…

[REVIEW+SWATCHES] Holika Holika Nudrop Dewy Stick 01 Bare Coral

Holika Holika Nudrop Dewy Stick 01 Bare Coral Review

Holika Holika Nudrop Dewy Stick 01 Bare Coral Review:

The NuDrop Dewy Stick is one of the new products belong to the NuDrop Collection from Holika Holika. Based on what they describe, it’s a moisturizing lipstick that will give you comfort and supple effect. I rarely use a moisturizing lipstick since it fades too fast for my liking but because their claims are too good to be true, I decided to try it to see if the claims are true or not. I have tried the Nudrop cream blusher form the same collection and to be honest I’m not too fond of that product. It fades too fast so I’m hoping the lipstick will last longer on me.

Holika Holika made the lipstick in only 4 shades but all of the shades are in natural color with warm undertones. I’m a big fan of natural lip color thus i had a hard time in choosing only one shade. If you are a fan of bold or dark lip color, then this collection may not be for you. Actually 4 shades is not enough but since the purpose is for ‘no makeup’ makeup look, I think it’s understandable (though I’d be happy if they include more shades).

[REVIEW] NEOGENCE N3 Tea Tree Purifying Mask Sheet

NEOGENCE N3 Tea Tree Purifying Mask Sheet Review

NEOGENCE N3 Tea Tree Purifying Mask Sheet Review:

Neogence proclaims itself as one of the top derma skincare brands from Taiwan, which was founded by experts in dermatology, biotechnology, and pharmaceutics. Despite my unfamiliarity with this Neogence brand, I was quite interested to try since it states clearly about these features: MI/MCI free, heavy metals free, fragrance free, dye free, paraben free, and no animal testing.

Moreover, I found many positive reviews about this brand as well as the popularity. Looks like Neogence itself is quite popular among Taiwanese, since Taiwan is where this brand comes from. Then I decided to buy two variants at once; NEOGENCE N3 Marigold Soothing Mask and NEOGENCE N3 Tea Tree Purifying Mask.

[REVIEW+SWATCHES] Holika Holika Nudrop Lumi Cheek 01 Caramel Luster

Holika Holika Nudrop Lumi Cheek 01 Caramel Luster Review

Holika Holika Nudrop Lumi Cheek 01 Caramel Luster Review:

Holika Holika is finally back again with their latest collection! After their ’Sparkly’ collection (which I’m not too fond of), Holika Holika launched a new collection, ’NuDrop’ with dewy and natural makeup for its theme. If I’m not mistaken it’s for the Summer collection and it consists of lipsticks, cream blushers, nail polishes, eyeshadow palettes, and some brushes. The collection intrigues me so much since I’m a fan of dewy makeup look so I purchased the blusher and the lipstick.

The blusher I got is a cream blush with hint of glitters. Actually I’m not a huge fan of cream blusher but most of the time if I want to have a natural makeup look, a cream blusher is way better than a powder one because it can give you a luminous and natural flush look. I think maybe Holika Holika put a wet, creamy blusher in the collection instead of a cushion/liquid because it’s easier to control and looks more natural on the skin.

I’m surprised to see this release from Holika because usually they put more effort into making the packaging instead of the quality itself (I’m sorry Holika!) but lately, they started to make more simple yet mature packaging along with high-quality products. I hope this new blusher will work wonder on my oily combination skin so let’s see.

[REVIEW] Purito Centella Green Level Safe Sun

Purito Centella Green Level Safe Sun Review

Purito Centella Green Level Safe Sun Review:

Purito is a brand that I probably wouldn’t have encountered if it wasn’t for Instagram’s Asian beauty community. Unlike famous brands like Innisfree, Etude House, Tony Moly etc. which have both physical and online stores, I believe Purito products are only available online. Nonetheless, this didn’t stop them from being one of the most loved brands in the community.

Their philosophy is to use clean ingredients to restore the skin barrier. While this is mostly the case for Korean brands, Purito definitely takes this motto by heart. My favorite products from them are from the Green Level line in which all the products have ingredients with an EWG rating of 1-2 (green, hence the name). Basically, these low values of EWG rating means that the ingredients used are non-irritating. This makes the products from this line ideal for sensitive skin types.

Ever since Purito released this sunscreen, I’ve always been intrigued to find out how incredible it is since everyone raves about all the other products from this line. I’ve been using this for a few weeks now so I’m finally ready to drop my verdict.

[REVIEW] Innisfree My Real Squeeze Mask Coconut

Innisfree My Real Squeeze Mask Coconut Review

Innisfree My Real Squeeze Mask Coconut Review:

I don’t think I need to introduce Innisfree, because I think they are a well-known brand that everyone has at least heard of, right? I actually haven’t used too many of their products, but when I’m visiting Seoul, I still like to look around their stores. Their packaging and products look incredibly beautiful, and I’m always tempted to buy and try many things. Anyway, at the end of the year I visited an Innisfree store, wanting to buy sheet masks!

I was especially looking for masks that are different from the varieties I could get from Etude House. Etude House sheet masks are my favorite, if I’m honest. But they don’t have all the varieties and flavors, so as soon as I saw these coconut masks at Innisfree, I had to buy it. After all, I’m a huge fan of coconut – the scent, as a food/drink, etc.

I’ll admit it was a purchase I made without knowing a thing about the ingredients, or anything like that. I did read it was good for dry skin, so I bought two of them to try. Coconut for me is also really nostalgic and makes me think of my childhood, so I really can’t help but fall for coconut related things! I was really hoping this would have a delicious coconut scent/smell, and that I would instantly love it… read on to see what I thought about it.

[REVIEW] Innisfree Ginger Honey Ampoule Skin

Innisfree Ginger Honey Ampoule Skin Review

Innisfree Ginger Honey Ampoule Skin Review:

Innisfree is one of those Korean brands that everyone trusts to have amazing products. Their philosophy is to create products using naturally derived ingredients from the island of Jeju. The brand is famous for their Green Tea and Orchid lines of products (both of which I have tried and love). So when they released their Ginger Honey line, I immediately wanted to get my hands on them.

The one that caught my eye the most is the Innisfree Ginger Honey Ampoule Skin. For those who are not yet familiar with Korean skincare terminologies, an ampoule is a more concentrated version of a serum while skin is another term used for toner.

Being categorized as an ampoule skin, this product serves dual purpose. Unlike a few years ago when the 10-step Korean skincare routine was all the rage, a more simplified routine comprising of multi-purpose products is preferred nowadays. As someone who is obsessed with skincare, I was intrigued to see if this product can help me reduce the number of steps in my routine.

[REVIEW+SWATCHES] Innisfree My Concealer Wide Cover C13

Innisfree My Concealer Wide Cover C13 Review

Innisfree My Concealer Wide Cover C13 Review:

Not too long ago, Innisfree launched a new concealer collection ‘My Concealer’. The collection consist of cream and liquid concealer, along with 2 correctors for dark circles. A concealer is a must-have in my makeup collection as I have a really severe panda eyes so I always have to cover up those areas with a brightening concealer. The problem is because I have fair skin tone, it’s hard for me to find a concealer that light enough for me.

So far, a concealer that work really well on me from Korean brand is Etude House. I’ve tried other brands too of course but only the Big Cover Skin Fit from Etude can brighten my under eyes without looking too cakey or creasing.

Innisfree promoting this collection with the help of several famous Korean beauty influencers including Ssin-nim, who is my favorite! On Innisfree’s website, you can see a tutorial and description about each concealer and if you are a beginner, I think it would help so much. They also put a swatch photo there but if you have deep skin tone, you will have a hard time in finding your perfect shade as the shade range is too limited.

[REVIEW+SWATCHES] Missha Wish Stone Tint Velvet BR01 Pretty Brown Pink

Missha Wish Stone Tint Velvet BR01 Pretty Brown Pink Review

Missha Wish Stone Tint Velvet BR01 Pretty Brown Pink Review:

I’m a fan of Missha’s skincare. It is the brand which introduced us to cult favorites like the Time Revolution the First Treatment Essence and the All Around Safe Block sunscreens. However, I don’t have a lot of experience when it comes to their makeup products. In fact, this lip tint is the only makeup product I have from the brand.

I have been using lip tints for years now and based on my experience, the best ones definitely come from South Korea (which isn’t really hard to believe since they’re the one who started this trend). Anyway, I first saw this Missha Wish Stone Tint Velvet on an online website and well…it was love at first sight! One look on its super adorable packaging and I knew I just had to have it (yes, I’m totally one of those people who buy things based on packaging without knowing much about the product).

There are five shades to choose from which includes a red (RD01), an orange (OR01), a brownish-pink (BR01), and two coral shades (CR01 and CR02). Since I already have a lot of reds and oranges in my collection, I decided to get the brownish-pink shade. It was priced at 260php (~$5) when I bought it which is a great bargain for such a pretty looking lip tint in my opinion.
