[REVIEW+SWATCHES] The Face Shop CHOCO Mono Pop Eyeshadow Palette 02 Cookie and Cream Chocolate

The Face Shop CHOCO Mono Pop Eyeshadow Palette 02 Cookie and Cream Chocolate Review:

I actually got “the other chocolate” palette first, but then I… regretted it, so since I had points I got this one too. Why did I regret it? Well I love glitter, and this one is 100% shiny! Some people say it’s 100% glitter but it’s really not, there’s other shines there which actually allow it to be much more diverse than you would originally think!

The Face Shop CHOCO Mono Pop Eyeshadow Palette 02 Cookie and Cream Chocolate Review

Well of course I will talk about the design first.

The brown chocolate one looks exactly like chocolate, and when I first saw the brand’s photos of this one I thought “meh” as in it doesn’t look like chocolate. But it is not true, when you hold it live it really looks like Cookie and Cream chocolate!

It almost smells sweet so pretty it looks. The only flaw? There is no texture on the bottom, it’s just plain white in the bottom. But do you really look at the bottom of the product?

There is a thing that happens a lot in The Face Shop palettes: the colors have no names. They don’t even have official numbers like the Wake Make palettes. But it’s all good.

The clear transparent film is simple and is just some typography, but it still looks nice enough.

The reason I regretted not getting this shadow isn’t just because of all the shine, to be quite honest. It’s also because some of these colors are magical and look different depending on the light. So let me walk you through each of them.
1 to 8 from top left to bottom right.

#1: Is a simple white glitter, quite similar to the brand’s Marvel collection white, but this one shines 100% white with no other discreet glitters inserted into it. So it has a winter and a snow feeling. This is the shadow that shows how much TFS palettes’ quality has improved since the Trolls and the Mike palettes, so if you tried one of those two… these new palettes are so much better!

#2: This is a shimmer color! So, not a glitter. Honestly I don’t use this color much, it’s a metallic beige taupe gold – I don’t really know what to call it. It’s a good base color for neutral makeup.

#3: Another shimmer. This one looks like a dry dark rose sometimes… and sometimes like brick orange! It actually is quite lovely and it’s the reason I fell for this palette. This as a simple full eyelid one color look with mascara and eyeliner is genius. Amazing color payoff.

#4: It’s back to glitters, or something between a shimmer and a glitter. This time a light rose base with shiny speckles of cold-toned gold. Truly beautiful, I could also use this everyday! However, it seems to be different in the palette and I like what it seems to be more than what it really is, in the palette it seems to be more pink than gold…

#5: Your simple shimmer-glitter brown. Why does every palette have one of these? I personally have no use for this specific color because all palettes have it so I must have like 15 of this. But it is super pigmented, amazing color payoff.

#6: Gold glitter. Need I say more? Not too warm toned so anyone can use it anywhere, I use it mainly as a teardrop and mid of the eyelid accentuator. Amazing color payoff.

#7: This is another color I don’t care much for, it’s a toasted gold, almost bronze. However this is also NOT glitter, it’s metallic! Love the formula. Amazing color payoff.

#8: Lastly, a dark red-brown shimmer. Love it. It is a unique brown shade that somehow is not a super warm color, so you can also use it anywhere. It also has amazing color payoff, and I find myself doing this as a main color and some lighter color to accentuate the tear and that’s it!

The Face Shop CHOCO Mono Pop Eyeshadow Palette 02 Cookie and Cream Chocolate Review

You can see here two looks I threw together with this palette. I know my photo abilities for makeup is less than ideal, I am trying to get better.

On the left I focused the look on number 3. I used 1, 3, and a tiny bit of 8 in the corner. Because I took the light in front of the window it looks more brick than rose.

On the right I focused the look on 8, that beautiful cold dark red brown. I used 4 and 8 only.

These colors all work as a single eyeshadow all over the lid, for a quick and easy look, but I thought I should show how “all glitter” still works well as an eye look.

Glitters aren’t the most long lasting on hooded and oily eyelids but if you make sure to apply base on them, wait to set, then pat the oil with a tissue then even without glitter primer this eyeshadow palette is indeed long lasting! The whole day with very little gathering on the eyelid fold.

To put it short, I love the quality of the product, even though some of the colors are not perfect for my taste (2 and 7) and there’s that one color I have too much of (5).

If you like glitter I highly recommend this! Really good quality.

I gave it to a friend and she uses that taupe color (2) almost every day because it just matches her so well.
