[REVIEW] The Face Shop Jeju Volcanic Lava Pore Daily Mask Foam

The Face Shop Jeju Volcanic Lava Pore Daily Mask Foam Review:

I got this product a long while back but then I bought other clay masks I really loved and never really got to even try this mask. It also is a clay mask, sort of like a melting clay mask, but mainly it’s a daily clay mask! Most of them are meant to be used two times per week.

So when I read this (when I finally paid attention) it intrigued me and I wanted to use this mask starting right then. I guess it’s one of the best instances of shopping my stash! And although it’s no magical wonder it is a very good mask and it also taught me about other clay masks. Not to mention it’s a mask and a cleanser all at once!

The Face Shop Jeju Volcanic Lava Pore Daily Mask Foam Review:

Koreans are big fans of “1 day 1 pack” and with this mask the daily pack becomes “1 day 1 minute 1 pack” and it’s not a lie.

However I will tell you right away, it doesn’t foam as much as the official website photos, because it just washes off so easily when the water touches it (you’ll see later).

Although it’s not a particularly nice design, I always found it interesting The Face Shop writes in Korean, English and French. No idea why, but I’m sure at least it comes in handy for their Canada sales.

It’s a very creamy product, not what you would expect of a cleanser nor of a clay mask. The squeeze bottle stays mainly clean, but when it gets dirty just make sure you don’t clean it with water.

The scent is soft, smells a little bit of clay, and it smells sweet at the same time. In fact when I accidentally let it get into my mouth while rinsing, it tasted somewhat sweet too for some reason. But don’t eat it, please.

On the left I applied it, then in the middle it’s after 1 minute, then just to show you the main point of this product, on the right I stirred it again without water.

What I mean is, this product isn’t meant to dry, it is meant to be creamy always, so when they say to not leave on for more than one minute, they mean you should not leave it on for more than one minute.

I tried to get a fourth photo of it foaming when I wet my hand and scrub it, but the foams just didn’t appear in the photo. It foams just a tiny bit, really not as much as they show on the website.

You also don’t feel it tightening on your skin as a normal clay mask, it feels like a cream wash off mask.

The water really rinses it off almost by itself which is why I fail at making bubbles. I just opened the tap and you can see there are only 3 small pieces of product left.

It makes for a great in shower product really!

Although this can be used instead of a cleanser, I must say I used it as a second cleanser. And most of the time I used it as an in shower clay mask/cleanser. However, I did use it for a whole week as a single cleanser to show you the results better.

On the left you have a before and after from a whole week. It makes a small difference, but a difference nonetheless. The effects are the same as using a normal clay pack once a week.

Then why is this so good for me?

It is soft and gentle, even more so because you don’t leave it on for more than one minute. So it saves a lot of time (normal clay masks stay on for around 15 minutes) while it doesn’t dry or attack the skin in any way, because it is so fast.

It works as a soft and gentle mask, and normal cleanser, which saves space and time. Now, I enjoy my cleanser, which is why I used this as a second cleanser, and it still had an effect all the way down to the last drop. Mainly I used it as shown in the photo.

This mask-cleanser taught me that even a normal clay mask doesn’t need to dry on the skin to be effective, in fact after finishing this and going back to normal clay masks I found the results are the same as just rinsing it off when it starts tugging on the skin. And not letting it dry on the skin prevents the skin from getting flaky (in my case).

I still prefer my Innisfree cica clay mask, which is always soft and gentle, but a daily mask-cleanser is a good product and still gentler than any other (except for the Innisfree Cica mask of course) clay-type I tried so far.
I recommend it for time saving and sensitive skins.

Personally I won’t repurchase it because, as I said, I like the Innisfree one better, but it’s the second best for my sensitive skin days and it taught me not to let masks dry on my skin. (again, this is my personal experience, may work for you or it may not)

So I still give it my thumbs up, especially if you have an offline The Face Shop store in your country.
