[REVIEW] The Face Shop Yehwadam Revitalizing Moisturizing Cream

The Face Shop Yehwadam Revitalizing Moisturizing Cream Review:

I like buying products from Korean brands because they are generous with samples. It is a smart marketing strategy, because this helps to introduce the products to potential customers and increases the chances of customers buying full-size products later on.

I was browsing the shelves at The Face Shop one day, contemplating whether to get a full-size moisturizer after having tried out some sample sachets some time back. As usual, the ever-friendly sales staff came over and asked if I needed help. Noting my skin concern, she sailed me to another line – Yehwadam instead of the original one I was looking at. There are two types under the Yehwadam line – Revitalizing Moisturising (blue in colour) and Revitalizing (pink in colour). She recommended the former to me, which is more suited for oily skin while still addressing anti-aging needs. The highlight of course is the one plus one promotion that was going on. It is hard to resist a one plus one offer, isn’t it? And so I succumbed to her sales pitch. But I have no regrets for this.

The Face Shop Yehwadam Revitalizing Moisturizing Cream Review:

The product name is a mouthful. “Yehwadam” means story of the herbs and flowers. In the ingredient list, I do see a number of flower extract.

The normal form is the jar and its design makes the product feels expensive. It also comes with an accompanying spatula. But I have a lesser liking for skincare products in a jar because it just does not feel as sanitized. I visualize about the air particles and dust landing on the cream and contaminating the product, although well, my skin will come into contact with these in any case.

Of course it also makes travelling more cumbersome. I wish The Face Shop would consider making the tube packaging a regular in this line.

The consistency of the cream is not heavy and is relatively easy to spread, as compared to its pink cousin (Revitalizing series meant for dry skin). It has a flowery cum perfume-y fragrance which I find soothing. I find this rather typical of Korean skincare products. Those of you who are sensitive to scents may find it overpowering though.

I do not know why the cream looks bluish in the jar. It is actually white. It absorbs well, making my skin feels soft and plump. And a bonus, to me, is that it does not leave any sticking feeling which is a problem I seem to have with some products and I attribute this to my oily skin.

I have used this for coming to 3 weeks. Although the sales staff claimed that this is good for fine lines, I have not seen any visible results on this. And in my online search on this product, none has specifically indicated anti-aging claims. Not sure if I got duped by the staff.

I have also yet to see any other significant improvements that I was hoping for. Notwithstanding these, it has not caused any bad reaction and I like the feel of it on my skin. So for now, this moisturizer is amongst one of those in my “like” list (which aren’t a lot to begin with). I will continue to use this whilst looking out for other moisturizers that are more effective for my skin type.

I do recommend this for younger, oily skin i.e. those of you who do not yet need to worry about lines. It will however not be sufficiently moisturizing for dry skin, which perhaps should be looking at the pink-coloured series for this Yehwadam line.
