[REVIEW] The SAEM Healing Tea Garden Green Tea Cleansing Tissue

The SAEM Healing Tea Garden Green Tea Cleansing Tissue Review:

I’ve actually been interested in trying out this range from The SAEM, so when I was over in Thailand and found it in a beauty store for a steal of 99 THB, I just grabbed it with a lack of my usual “I am not an impulse buyer”. So, how does it fare for my – also – first cleansing tissue?

Claims:

+ The SAEM Healing Tea Garden Green Tea Cleansing Tissue is a part of the SAEM’s Healing Tea Garden line.

+ Formulated with the skin’s changing conditions due to seasonal/environmental variations in mind, the Healing Tea Garden line focuses on melting away the daily stresses from your skin just like you would melt away your mental stresses during tea time with a cup of healing tea.

+ Its goal is to provide your skin with a breath of fresh air and a moment of relaxation, promoting clear and healthy skin.

+ The SAEM Healing Tea Garden Green Tea Cleansing Tissue contains organic green tea extract that helps maintain the oil/moisture balance of your skin and supplements moisture to keep the skin from drying out after cleansing.

+ This mini pack (20 sheets) is a great travelling companion or an easy and convenient on-the-go method for a quick cleanse.

The SAEM Healing Tea Garden Green Tea Cleansing Tissue Review:

Packaging-wise, it’s a pretty basic run-of-the-mill design similar to other cleansing tissues/makeup wipes, so nothing much to fuss over. Due to its relatively compact size, it’s great for travelling purposes. The adhesive still remains quite strong despite the countless times I’ve opened/closed it to take out tissues, so that’s good. Personally, I do like the look of the packaging (illustrations, color scheme) – pretty simple, but calming to look at.

Each tissue is individually soaked in a good amount of essence/product, making makeup removal a fuss-free experience. For something that’s so inexpensive, this was a definite plus point for me. Moreover, I love how the scent is so mild; definitely a relaxing, non-gag inducing product for sensitive-nosed folks like me!

Additionally, while there is some texture, the material of each tissue is still gentle enough for my sensitive skin – unless, of course, you wipe your face aggressively… there’s no helping the irritation then, haha.

Below are some swatches of both non-waterproof and waterproof makeup. Also mentioned are the number of swipes it took at each step to illustrate the cleansing ability of a single tissue from the pack.

To start it off, and to also demonstrate the thickness of the tissue (not that thick since you can obviously see the swatches when pressed down onto my arm), I allowed the tissue to just lightly press into my skin before wiping gently.

For the following 2-5 swipes, I was still just gently wiping off the makeup swatches. As you can see, by the fifth swipe, almost all of my non-waterproof makeup is removed, but there are still obvious traces of my more long-lasting waterproof makeup, ie. the Rimmel Provocalips and the Heroine Make Kiss Me Mascara.

With more force (and thus causing obvious red splotches to appear on my skin), the sixth swipe managed to remove the Rimmel Provocalips, but still the mascara persists. But evidently, the mascara can be removed… if you apply even more force. Something which I wouldn’t recommend at all, to be honest, because you should always be gentle with your eyes!

In terms of actual makeup removal on my face, this test actually aligns with what I know to be true; ie. the cleansing wipes work well in removing basic, non-waterproof makeup, but not so much the more long-lasting waterproof makeup. Which is fine for the most part, in my opinion, as every time I use these tissues, I’m always left with no stinging/irritation, more hydrated skin and no uncomfortable “film”/residue.

In fact, whenever I’m too tired to wash my face properly after a long day, using these tissues to erase most of the gunk on my face before crashing (on my bed), I find myself waking up to skin that’s surprisingly not angry at me (for not washing my face properly at all). So, that’s a definite plus for all the lazy people out there. Though, please don’t do this on a daily basis because it’ll harm your skin in the long run!

Overall, I’m happy to give this a perfect 5/5 rating. Although it’s not a miracle product by far in terms of makeup removal, I think that it’s a very mild product suitable for most skin types (with a nice minimal ingredients list!) and one which excels in what it does at its inexpensive price point. Definitely give it a try when you have the chance!
