The Saem Natural Daily Original Rose Mask Review:
I’ll admit that I’ve been totally obsessed with wash off masks this year! And strangely, I’ve been wanting to try floral and rose related ones, because they just sound good? Earlier in the year, I was looking for a new wash off mask and I came across this one. There weren’t many reviews about it, but the fact that it said “daily” and also “moisturizing” made me want it. After all I want a wash off mask that can be used daily, and is also easy to wash off. Of course, it needs to be moisturizing as well!
You can say it was a purchase without any research or planning (I always seem to do this, oops!). I was simply looking for a basic wash off mask that I could use every day. One that wouldn’t cost a lot, or one that wouldn’t be too hard to wash off. Plus when I looked up the mask ingredients, it seemed to have so few ingredients which was another reason I decided to buy it. Read on to see if I regret my latest purchase, or if in the end I liked it.

The Saem Natural Daily Original Rose Mask Review:
The Saem’s Natural Daily Original Rose Mask comes packaged in a tub, with a cardboard box outer. Unfortunately, there is no spatula included, which means you have to use your own or simply use a clean finger. The tub is cute, it’s a pretty pink with a white lid. But I do wish there was a spatula to use.
The other annoying thing is that the tub is one of those “lying” ones. What I mean is, look at the picture of the tub, it looks quite big, right? Well, once you open the lid, you realize that this jar actually is much smaller than it appears. The actual inside of the jar/tub is the same width as the lid – meaning the tub has an extra layer of plastic to make it look “bigger”. I hope this makes sense, but it’s kind of frustrating and a complete waste of plastic! Unfortunately, many skin care companies now do this.
Anyway, I shouldn’t complain about these types of thing because in the end it’s not the packaging that will make me decide to buy something – it’s how well the product works for me. If you look online at this mask has a tiny ingredient list, even if you look on cosdna, but this in fact completely wrong. I think this ingredient list mainly just has all the extracts, but if you look at the ingredients I posted (directly typed from the box!) you can see that there are a ton more ingredients.
I guess I should never have believed those short ingredient lists online. The real one has a lot of ingredients, and half of them are things I’ve never heard about before. Like “Methyl Gluceth-20” which is the fourth ingredient, I just looked it up and it’s an emollient and humectant made from corn sugar! It contains a lot of emollients and humectants, so it should be very moisturizing and hydrating.
The star ingredients are roses obviously, and this mask contains two types of rose extract: Rosa Damascena Flower Water and Rosa Gallica Flower. The first one is Damask Rose, which seems to be a very popular product in skin care. This mask has the flower water, which is also known as “rose water” and is good at reducing inflammation. This mask is supposed to contain 10,000ppm of the Damask rose water.
When I look up Rosa Gallica Flower Powder, I don’t find much info but apparently, it’s French Rose pollen, which is mentioned on the online ingredient lists. The mask contains 7,000ppm of this. Pollen sounds a bit of a strange ingredient to me, and I guess people who have pollen allergies should avoid this product?
Rosa Gallica, like Rosa Damascena is good at reducing inflammation and is also good at reducing wrinkles and heal bruises. So, if you can tolerate pollen, I guess this is a good thing to have in a wash off mask.
Now the actual texture of the mask is a light, slightly sticky gel. It has rose petals throughout – those funny lumps in the pictures are the petals. I tried so hard to pick up petals for the swatch, but somehow, I couldn’t get many. Some petal pieces are huge, but mostly are like in this swatch – small.
It’s very easy to spread it on the skin, and it’s so light but that’s a good and bad thing. It’s good because you can just put a very light layer on your skin. But if you are say washing your hair, then you need to put a much thick layer so it won’t run off your face when you wash your hair.
It does also have a quite strong floral scent, which could be off-putting to many people. I didn’t like it that much at first, but as I used the mask, I got used to it. It also isn’t as strong as many other products. But I know many people dislike The Saem products for the strong fragrance, so I think it’s a personal preference. Because some brands that are popular have very strong scents to me – but other people don’t seem to mind them.
I’ve been using this mask for around two months now, and I use it most mornings. On the odd occasion I use a different wash off mask or none at all. The Saem says to wash your face before use, and to use toner first as well. But I don’t because I use it in the shower, so I don’t wash my face first. I simply apply the mask, and once I’m almost finished in the shower, I wash it off with my hands. I then apply toner and the rest of my morning routine.
It feels much lighter than say Etude House’s Honey Cera Wrapping mask, which is very sticky and thick. So, often I apply several layers of this mask, because of how light it feels, but despite how light it feels it actually doesn’t wash off that easily. I often touch my face with wet fingers, and the mask still stays on my skin which is great.
It also washes off quite easily but you need to use your hands to help remove it. My skin always feels so smooth and moisturized after using it, and my skin looks a lot less dehydrated after using it. Overall, I think this mask is moisturizing and hydrating. As for anti-aging or wrinkle improvement, I’m a little sceptical that a wash off product can actually help with wrinkles. I do actually really enjoy using this mask, because it’s not too sticky or thick, you can adjust how much you want for each day.
I think I’ll definitely repurchase this wash off mask, because it’s a really easy to use mask and more importantly it’s hydrating and moisturizing. I think this mask could work for all skin types, because it is a light gel. Those with dry or dehydrated skin, can put a thicker layer on. And those with oily or combination skin could use a thinner layer.
