[Review] Tony Moly Pokemon Pikachu Pocket Lip Balm

Tony Moly Pokemon Pikachu Pocket Lip Balm Review:

As an avid Pokemon fan, and mainly as a lip balm fan, I had to get my hands in one of these cuties. For now they only come in one color, so that’s exactly what I got, I didn’t even check the color and just purchased the product. A pocket lip balm is very practical, because pot lip balms tend to be (exceptions apply) more moisturizing than stick lip balms. And in the end it’s a very cute box, so if the product is disappointing I can always just use this box later for Vaseline! And I always carry a small pot of Vaseline around so even if for that purpose only it still sounds like a good buy. But let’s see if the product makes me happy or not!

Moisturizes dry lips and gives them liveliness and strength.

Tony Moly Pokemon Pikachu Pocket Lip Balm Review:

Before I start I have to say, lovely box, but tremendously small amount of product! Okay, now that that’s out of the way…

The box feels sturdy and it’s very similar to Pikachu’s face. Not that I’m complaining, but obviously a cushion couldn’t really have Pikachu’s face (even the one that has the ears), and this compensates for it.

The box it came in is very small and has as much information as they could add. It has all the important information minus the product weight and the ingredients which, let’s face it, are the most important information parts they could give.

They specifically say to check the ingredients in the website, so of course that’s what I did while I was preparing to write this.

As you can see, it’s a small amount of product. But it does look so beautiful, proportionally speaking, I’ll let that one go. The spatula didn’t come with the product, I just wanted you to see the buttery texture of the lip balm. If it wasn’t buttery, on the spatula instead of small waves there would be “broken” cream pieces.

This swatch shows the color. It is a lip balm so of course there’s a limit to how strong the color would be, but it’s a particularly sheer color. Also, as you can see in the second image, the color is almost a tint, after I rubbed the balm off my arm there was a color streak remaining on my skin.

Before application, right after, and 20 minutes after. I let my lips dry especially for this photo so that we could see how effective (or not) the lip balm actually is.

It took me 5 minutes before I started feeling my lips hydrate, but after that they started feeling nice and fluffy. So, it does care for the lips.

The color settles on the dry skin patches, but the lip balm makes that skin peel off after a while so you just have to remove it. Of course it’s still troublesome that it settles on the dry skin, but since you can remove said skin it’s the least of two evils.

The scent is that of fruit scented children cheap cosmetic products. I don’t know if you ever tried them when you were young, but if you did then I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.

To summarize my thoughts, I’m not displeased with this product, I’m glad I bought it because, as I said, I wanted the box. And I will use the lip balm instead of removing it and throwing it away. However, I feel very childish using this, and it’s just a normal lip balm – so one can find cheaper products around.

So, since I now have the box I won’t repurchase it, but if they release new characters or new colors I’ll at least check them out. It is an incredibly childish product – and I’m not talking about the box, I’m referring to the lip balm itself!

So, if you like the box or don’t mind the childhood throwback feeling, go ahead. If you wouldn’t get something just for the box I doubt you’ll be satisfied with this baby.
