[REVIEW] Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer

Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer Review:

In truth, I bought this product due to its hype online from well-known Youtubers to blog reviews. It seemed to be featured everywhere, and at the time, I didn’t exactly have a holy grail for my primer.

So, when I was in London, I made the decision to purchase the Too Faced Hangover Primer, a primer designed to make you look like you’ve been well-hydrated and have gotten sufficient sleep — two things that I’m always lacking!

Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer Review:

I usually try to avoid fragrances in beauty products, but I find that they’re quite hard to avoid in high-end brands. This product is no exception: it smells so strongly of sweet artificial coconut that it’s almost sickening, but it does fade a little over the course of the day.

Either way, if you are not a fan of coconut or are sensitive to fragrances in general, this could be a primer to beware.

The Hangover Primer comes in a tube with a pump, making it incredibly easy to get an appropriate amount of the product out without getting it everywhere. It’s also a pretty closed system, which is better for hygiene purposes.

Texture-wise, it’s quite a thick product that retains its shape after being pumped out — really similar to a lotion or a cream moisturizer. It is of a white color, but goes transparent after being spread out and absorbed; so it definitely does not have a brightening or tone-up effect that is usually present in a lot of Korean primers on the market.

It is quite easy to work with and spreads well despite its rather thick texture. I find it best to dot it in small amounts all over the face first, and then blend it in.

Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer Review

This is definitely a hydrating primer: even though I was in dry London, it held up very well and kept my face very moisturized — almost too moisturized for my oily skin. When I got back to humid Hong Kong, I unfortunately could not use it in the summer season, and had to wait until winter.

Initially, I did know that this primer was best suited for dryer skin types, however, I was attracted to its silicone-free ingredients list as well as its radiant claims, and decided to give it a go anyway. I would say that having tried this in different climates, it is still better suited for normal to dry skin.

While it played well with my makeup and provided a smooth base for my foundation to go on, it did not necessarily make my makeup last any longer than it normally would. Even with prolonged use, I didn’t notice drastic changes in how hydrated or radiant my complexion was.

Ultimately, I think that this is a simple and effective hydrating primer that will quickly provide a good canvas for you to work on. Personally, I will not be repurchasing this in the future, but keep in mind that your mileage may vary!
