WAKEMAKE Pocket Styler 01 Modern Matte Eyeshadow Palette Review:
I have used Wakemake’s lip products before. In fact that’s what they are known for, and I highly recommend them if you’re into lippies! But their design in general is beautiful so it comes as no surprise that I felt attracted to their eyeshadow palettes.
When I first came to know these eyeshadows they only had “a matte one” and “a glitter one”, but now with two matte palettes I think everyone can find something they like! Honestly I went for this one because it’s the one “I knew” so it’s the one I wanted, but I’m considering getting number 3 on the next sale opportunity.
+ It’s a thin and compact palette with 7 different colors that allow you to make whatever style makeup you want, with a natural finish.
+ IT has a deep color, and even if you apply every day you won’t get bored of this modern fit matte shadow.

WAKEMAKE Pocket Styler 01 Modern Matte Review:
I know what you’re thinking “Oh What a warm colored palette” but it’s actually way more malleable than what you’d expect, so please keep reading!
The design is pretty, with a fabric-like texture and the brand logo embedded to it. The package is plastic so it is light, but it feels sturdy enough and it is, as they promised, super tiny for a full-size product with 7 colors! Part of that is because there is no brush. But that doesn’t bother me at all since I always use my own separate brush.
The colors are called A, B, C, D, E, F and G and the only ones that actually have a warmer tone are B and G – all other ones are fairly neutral. Even E which sort of seems like a yellow beige is more neutral than yellow. It’s like… that beige trench coat everyone has around here. It looks warm, like a camel color, but it goes well with everything.
I tried to take a photo outdoors and indoors for different light, but it was pointless as the weather is mean lately.
You can see that B, the brick color, and G the dark brown are actually neutral colors. The warmth of a color isn’t defined by the color name – not all reds are warm and not all blues are cold, it depends on the undertones. The colors that, for me and on my skin, give me the biggest concern end up being E and F. I see F as a challenge, but E can be easily used as a base as it is a deep neutral beige more than a warm color.
I apologize for the weird colors in the photos, I left my camera on with a blue filter then to correct that this was the best I could do.
On the first day I tried “just anything” with B, C mixed with E and then G as an eyeliner.
I didn’t like it, of course, I couldn’t even blend well, I was having a no-day. But the texture is velvety, doesn’t have fall out, and for mattes they adhere quite well even without a primer!
On the second day I tried using C as the base, B as the point, and a very light touch of brown on the corner (plus black eyeliner and mascara).
Although my makeup was still meh, this was when I realized what I already said, that the warmth of the colors depend on what’s underneath. So you can turn these shades warmer or cooler, no matter if Koreans are calling this a warm tone makeup palette!
Finally I had become acquainted with this palette and dared to be bold (in the meantime I did a series of plain neutral looks with A, C, D and G; and dabbled with B as a point and E as a neutral base, it all worked).
I went full color, eyeliner and a splash of white glitter! I used ABCG for this one.
On my skin, ACDG are colder, while EF are warmer, so I can use all of them provided I don’t make a look with only E and F, which may clash a little with my generally cool look.
You know, you can use warm and cool tones regardless of your skin undertone, you only have to use the right base makeup for you – and use colors that match your!
So, in the end I am very satisfied with this palette and would love to have number 03, which is in rose colors rather than neutrals. If you like eye makeup I definitely recommend trying these Wakemake colors.
